LG Electronics, has announced LG GGW-H20L Blue Ray ReWriter which LG claims to be world’s fastest Blue Ray Writer. The LG Blue Ray Writer has fastest double layer Blu-ray Disc (BD) writing speed of 6x Max.

LG GGW-H20L Blue Ray Writer is an IDE device that can be mounted on any existing Desktop PC and is capable of double layer BD storage of up to 50 GB of data as against normal CD which has a storage capacity of approximately 700 MB.

The 50-GB storage capacity of a single BD disk translates to about data contents of up to 73 CDs Or to make it more appropriate, approximately 35 standard Bollywood movies.

Sony has launched a new DVD recorder, VRD-MC1, in India which can transfer home video footage in real-time from a camcorder to a DVD media without requiring a PC.

The new DVD recorder also allows recording of digital still images directly from memory cards to DVD media as a slideshow for playback on most home DVD players and PC DVD-ROM drives, without requiring a PC.

Sony VRD-MC1 DVD recorder also enables direct connection to PictBridge-compatible photo printers for direct printing individual digital pictures from a memory card or from a DVD disc.

Samsung today announced the launch of new WriteMaster SH-S182D DVD drive which can write to DVD+/-R media at a blazing 18X speed. Previous fastest DVD writers available were able to write up to 16X speeds.

The Samsung SH-S182D DVD writer can write to DVD+/-R with 18X, DVD-RAM with 12X, DVD+/-R Double Layer with 8X, DVD+RW with 8X and DVD-RW with 6X making it the world’s fastest DVD+/-R and DVD-RAM writer in the current market.

The SH-S182D can also write to Dual Layer and DVD-RAM media, largely promoted by Panasonic which pioneer the technology. Since it was not globally accepted standard, few home DVD players support DVD-RAM media outside of the Panasonic product ranges.
