Canon PowerShot A420 Digital Camera
Canon has introduced 4.0 megapixel PowerShot A420 digital camera in India which offers consumers an outstanding combination of easy-to-use features, and excellent image quality at an entry-level price.
Canon PowerShot A420 digital camera is equipped with a 4.0 Megapixel CCD with 3.2x optical zoom and features 15 shooting modes, VGA movies and 5-point AiAF auto focus, bright 1.8″ LCD, a Night Display mode, and 1cm Super Macro mode for close-up focusing on tiny subjects. The recording pixels include a “Widescreen” feature that has the same aspect ratio as 16:9 widescreen TVs for shooting wide images. The Canon A420 digital camera can record QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) movies at 30 frames per second.
Samsung YP-D1 MP3 Player Cum Digital Camera
Samsung has launched a new MP3 player, YP-D1, in India which has 1.8-inch color display and an integrated 2 megapixel digital camera capable of high-quality still and video recording.
The high-capacity flash memory based Samsung YP-D1 gadget has a quality MP3 digital audio player, a built-in digital camera, MPEG4 playback, and photo and text viewing capabilities.
The compact Samsung YP-D1 MP3 Player is equipped with 1.8 inch 260K color TFT-LCD screen and is available in 1GB and 2GB versions. Its integrated 2 megapixel digital camera allows up to 4X digital zoom.
The Samsung YP-D1 features Samsung’s Digital Natural Sound engine and it supports JPEG, MP3, OGG, WMA, ASF and MPEG4 video playback. The built-in speaker lets the unit double as a mini-radio, allowing users to listen to music while playing back pictures.
Kodak EasyShare V610 Bluetooth Enabled Digital Camera
Kodak has recently launched its new dual Lens EasyShare V610 digital camera in India, which is only 2.3cm thick and offers a 10x zoom equivalent to 38-380mm, making it the smallest camera in the world with a big zoom range.
The Kodak EasyShare V610 is Kodak’s second dual lens camera after EasyShare V570 which was designed for wide-angle shooting. The V610’s two lenses give it a total focal range of 38 - 380 mm.
Kodak claims that its EasyShare V610 digital camera is world’s smallest 10x optical zoom camera and it is also one of the world’s first consumer cameras with Bluetooth connectivity built in.

Canon Powershot A430 is an easy and affordable 4-megapixle advance digital cameras recently launched by Canon in India which offers an outstanding combination of easy-to-use features, solid construction and excellent image quality at an entry-level price.
With a 4-megapixel sensor and a 4x optical zoom lens, the Canon Powershot A430 is a very high quality, inexpensive and compact digital camera. The lens offers a 5.4mm-to-21.6mm range (equivalent to a 35mm lens with a 39mm-to-156mm zoom) and corresponding maximum f-stops of f/2.8 to f/5.8.
The Canon PowerShot A430 can shoot up to 2.3 frames per second and has an array of 14 shooting modes. The digital camera takes SD cards and is PictBridge compatable using USB 2.0 interface.
Sony Unveils Alpha DSLR-A100
Sony has announced the launch of its first digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera in India, Sony Alpha DSLR-A100, which features a 10.2 megapixel super HAD CCD image sensor and a unique autofocus viewfinder.
The Alpha DSLR-A100 digital camera is powered by 19 high-quality lenses and is compatible with a majority of the existing Konica-Minolta Maxxum mount lenses.
Sony DSLR-A100 digital camera’s 10.2 megapixel sensor is a Super HAD (Hole Accumulated Diode) CCD with Super SteadyShot OIS, anti-dust filters and vibration, and Bionz Image Processor hardware.
A Indium tin oxide coating on the DSLR-A100 camera’s CCD image sensor strongly repels static dust build-up, while each time the camera is turned-off an anti-dust feature gets activated that shakes off dust particles.
Samsung Introduce Digimax S-500 Digital Camera
Samsung India has launched their new ‘S’ Series of Point & Shoot digital camera, the Digimax S500, which is equipped with 3x optical zoom and a spacious 2.4 inch LCD monitor. Digimax S500 features a 5.3 Megapixel 1/2.5″ CCD, effective resolution 5.1 Megapixels and 5,8 - 17,4mm (equivalent with film 35 mm: 35 - 105mm) zoom lens.
Like their other recently lauhced digital cameras, the Samsung Digimax S500 features Auto Macro, to take close-up pictures automatically even if close-up mode is not set.
In addition it offers high-speed USB 2.0 transfer rate to computers and printers allowing upto 480 Mbps data transfer rates. Movie clips can be recorded at 30 frames per second and 640 X 480 VGA resolution with sound.
In Korea Samsung introduces their digital cameras under the name Kenox. In Europe or US we are familiar with the name Digimax.
Micron to Introduce 8-Megapixel Image Chip
Electronic circuits and Chip maker Micron Technology has indicated that it would soon unveil a thumbnail-sized digital sensor that enables pocket-sized cameras and cell phones to capture bursts of 10 high-quality photos in a single second or even high-definition video.
The company today unveiled a prototype of an 8-megapixel image sensor that packs a punch with incredible capture rates at full resolution and stunning high-definition (HD) video capture.
Ricoh Introduces Caplio 500G Wide Digital Camera
Japanese camera manufacturer, Ricoh has recently introduced its newest Caplio, the 500G wide digital camera. The rugged 8-megapixel device boasts of high resistance to water, dust and shock letting photographers focus on the scene without worrying about damage.
New Ricoh Caplio 500G Wide can withstand immersion in water to a meter and can take a drop from one meter as well. The “Wide” suffix to the camera’s title refers to its 28-85mm, 3x optical zoom lens that is relatively wide when compared with most compact models’ lenses. Its 28mm wide-angle zoom lens is said to capture larger areas than the 35mm lenses of conventional digital cameras. So when there is limited space to manoeuvre and you have a large area like some building to snap, this digital camera would come handy.
Seagate Introduces ST1.3 Series, 1-inch Photo Hard Drives
Seagate Technology last week announced the Seagate ST1.3 Series 12GB 1-inch photo hard drive especially targeted to pocket music player and digital photo storage market segments.
With a footprint 23% smaller, 50% extra storage capacity, and 30% less power consumption than Seagate’s current 1-inch photo hard drive - the latest Seagate ST1.3 Series offers a new optional drop sensor for increased robustness, delivering the features most requested by handheld device manufacturers.
The ST1.3 Series hard drive is Seagate’s second hard drive with perpendicular recording and the company’s first drive utilizing perpendicular technology in the 1-inch category.
