Kingston FB-DIMM Memory
Kingston Technology has earlier this month announced expansion its Fully Buffered DIMM (FB-DIMM) memory modules with the inclusion of new DDR2 667-MHz speeds to support Intel-based servers and workstation PCs.
The Kingston FB-DIMM memory modules are to be used alongside new dual-core Intel Xeon processor-based servers and Intel 5000 series chipsets / motherboards.

Lenovo has announced launch of its new branded desktop PC in India, the Leveno 3000 Q, powered by Pentium 4 Processor with HT Technology and comes with Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2 preinstalled.

Hewlett-Packard India, in its HP Pavilion Media Center PCs series, introduced in March 2006 the new HP Pavilion m7382IN model featuring Wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11 b/g, a standard for wireless data transfer) for India market.

ATI Launches Crossfire Xpress 3200 and Radeon Xpress 1100 Chipsets For AMD Socket AM2
ATI Technologies Inc., has introduced the Crossfire Xpress 3200 chipset and Radeon Xpress 1100 series of chipsets, for advanced AMD’s socket AM2 motherboards.
ATI CrossFire Xpress 3200 is more than just a Socket 939 chipset. The new ATI dual X16 chipset would be launched for Socket 939, but it was designed from the ground up for AMD Socket AM2. ATI is now showing how well the CrossFire Xpress 3200 performs on the new AM2 socket with DDR2 memory.

HCL Would Market Apple iPods and desktops in India
HCL Infosystems, a IT company, entered into a non-exclusive strategic agreement with Apple Computers to distribute Apple desktop computers and its hot selling portable digital musical gadget iPod in India.
HCL said it would provide compelete sales and service support for distribution of Apple iPods in India which will be available in the price range of Rs 4,000 to Rs 23,000 through its wast network of 1,000 HCL retail outlets across the country.
As of now, almost all Apple iPods in India have been sold by unorganised retail and grey market mostly in big cities.
Ajai Chowdhury, CEO and Chairman of HCL Infosystems, said “HCL plans to sell and distribute Apple Desktop computers for Education, media and Entertainment purposes.”
HCL Infosystems had similar kind of strategic agreements TOSHIBA for selling laptops and notebook PCs in India through its large regional distribution network.

According to company, all three newly launched motherboards will offer unprecedented computing power and stability, for both home and corporate usage arounf Pentium 4 CPU.
Dell Plan To Introduce AMD Opteron Processors Into High-end Servers
Dell, the world’s number one PC maker, has agreed to use AMD Opteron CPU chips in its high-end servers by the end of 2006. In the same breath, company clarified that the majority of the processor chips it bought would continue to be from Intel, for now.
Marty Seyer, senior vice president of AMD’s commercial business sounded like he could barely contain his enthusiasm after years of being eschewed by Dell. “This is outstanding news, we are just jumping for joy here that Dell has embraced AMD.”
Details were light but news site The Register said that Dell was “expected to use Opteron in four-socket servers“.
Dell’s acceptance of AMD is a huge blow to Intel from a marketing standpoint as it points to some of the weaknesses Intel is still experiencing with these larger servers.
Despite limiting its use to servers, a moderate degree excitement was sparked in one of the IT industry’s classic battles: AMD-versus-Intel.
AMD Unveils Energy Efficient CPU Chips
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has plans to unveil a range of energy-efficient desktop CPUs with models that the it says will run more than twice as efficient as some of its mainstream desktop parts.
While the current AMD desktop chips can consume a maximum 89 watts or more, the latest energy-efficient desktop chips will consume a maximum of only 35 to 65 watts, depending on the model.
Current range of AMD’s desktop CPUs consumes a maximum 51 - 110 watts or more. Whereas the energy-efficient desktop chips would consume a maximum 35 to 65 watts, making the new CPUs about twice as enery efficient as older versions.
