Micromax has officially announced the launch of its new Android powered tablet, the Funbook Pro that has a 10.1-inch capacitive multi touchscreen, and runs Androd 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. Claimed to be a perfect combination of hardware, content and seamless connectivity for a high-quality and engaging experience, the Funbook Pro is an upgraded version of Micromax’s popular Funbook tab, and is aimed to provide the huge young population of India affordable tablet experience.

Micromax’s Funbook Pro, like its predecessor,  is claimed to be completely indigenous designed and is aimed to provide an enriching experience to the students by transforming classroom teaching to e-learning.

The Micromax Funbook Pro features a 10.1-inch (25.6 cm) 16 million colors capable capacitive touchscreen display having 1024 x 600 pixel resolution and dual Mali 400 2D/3D graphic processor that is claimed to be world’s first OpenGL ES 2.0 conformant multi-core GPU that provides 2D and 3D acceleration with performance scalable up to 1080p resolutions supporting MPEG2/4, AVI, MOV, WMV, MKV, FLV, MP3 formats video playback.

Funbook Pro is powered by a 1.2GHz Cortex A8 single-core processor with 1-GB RAM and 8GB internal storage running raw Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The device also offers up to 32GB expandable storage via microSD card slot and includes a VGA resolution front-facing camera for video chatting.

The tablet comes packed with a powerful 5600 mAh Li-ion internal battery and also includes mini-HDMI digital out port connection, 3.5 mm audio out port, built-in Gravity Sensor and Accelerometer.

For connectivity, Funbook Pro includes WiFi 802.11/b/g and allows 3G via Tata Photon + 3G dongle and also features GPS with A-GPS and USB 2.0 port. For 3G, company has tied up with Tata Photon + to bundle EVDO data card with 1 GB of additional download for two months. Funbook Pro will also be retailed at Tata stores.

Micromax has partnered with leading players to provide education and entertainment content. These partnerships include Pearson and Everonn to make available unique and relevant content for the students and BigFlix, Zenga and Indiagames to provide entertainment and gaming pleasure.

For educational contents, Micromax has partnered with Pearson, Everonn, and Vriti to bring best of digital Education to its user. With quality content from content providers and education institutes, Vriti will deliver these smart courses, leveraging data analytics of 200+ million questions, and create personalized learning experience for a student. Company has also partnered with Bigflix, Indiagames and Zenga to bring best of entertainment on one device.

Everonn Education Ltd, another content  partner in association with Vriti, plans to offer School curriculum-learning modules, IIT/JEE test prep module and @home live tuition products on Funbook. Students can now have access to good teachers, educational content and a great learning experience anytime anywhere.

The Funbook Pro offers support for Java and comes preloaded with several apps including DOC, PPT, XLS document editor, Zip files, Text editor, Adobe PDF, Flashm Youtube and more.

With HD Video playback at 1080p, users can enjoy watching videos, movies and clips in brilliant Hi-Definition mode. The HDMI port lets you connect with any other multimedia device such as TV or projector and enjoy the content in the desired way. With its big screen, watching movies, pictures and games is always a joy, reading books and surfing the net becomes much easier and convenient.
