Kobian, makers of Mercury brand tablet devices and a personal computer peripherals supplier has announced a very low cost tablet device called iXA Tab that is targeted to students and education community squarely pitched against the cheapest student oriented tablet device on the market, the UbiSlate from Datawind.
Being offered as a limited edition product in India market, the Kobian iXA tab is powered by a 1GHz single-core processor and includes 512MB RAM and 4GB internal storage and sports microSD card supporting up to 32Gb expandable storage.
The iXA Tab has 7-inch resistive touchscreen display having 800 x 480 pixels resolution and also features a single front-facing VGA resolution camera for video calling, WiFi network connectivity and microUSB port for wired connection and charging.
The device runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread version operating system and claims to supports a range of audio formats that includes asmp3, wav, wma, aac and more. The device also supports a range of video file formats that includes MP4, 3GP, MOV, AVI video formats.
About 341 grams in weight, the Kobian iXA comes preloaded with suite of Google apps and offers built-in access to Google Play allowing users access to over 200,000 free and paid apps.
Users can also buy an custom external keyboard that can be connected to this device for added typing comfort.
Recently there has been several low cost 7-inch tablets launched in India that includes Micromax’s Funbook, Datawind’s Ubslate 7c, HCL ME Tab U1 and Attitude Daksha from Telmoco Development Labs.
Sushmita Das, country manager, India, Kobian said, “We have had immense success with mTab range , the launch of iXA Tab is for our young students and generation who would want to have the ownership of a tablet. They are now able to get all the features bundled in one product with a very attractive price tag. Since it’s based on Android Gingerbread, user has the access to all Google applications and can have the ultimate experience. If one can get a Tablet at the price of a mobile phone then why not grab it.”
Kobian’s iXA Tab’s may not find much favour in hands of Indian conumers who are already able to buy 7-inch tablets with improved capacitive touchscreen display and running Google ICS 4.0 operating system at slightly higher price point.
The limited edition Kobian iXA tab would be available for pre-order starting May 23, 2012 for the price of Rs. 3,999 with standard warranty of one year.

Is that true i can it only for Rs:3999 or is ther any additional tax for that, And where can i buy it in bangalore
