ADATA has today announced the first shipment of its highly anticipated S511 Series Solid State Drive (SSD), which is company’s first Solid State Drive (SSD) featuring latest SATA 6 Gb/sec specification that employs the SandForce SF-2200 series controller.
The S511 utilizes the new generation SandForce SF-2200 series chip, with native support for the SATA 6Gb/s platform. Extensive internal testing has confirmed read and write speeds twice that of SSDs using the older SATA II specification, with all hardware and firmware elements working flawlessly. In simulation trials, the S511 reached 550/520MB read and write speeds respectively, with 4K random write speeds as high as 60,000 IOPS.
Flexible Dual Interface
In terms of the interface, the ADATA S511 SSD features the new generation SandForce SF-2200 series chip, with native support for the SATA 6Gb/s platform.
Having read and write speeds twice that of SSDs using the older SATA II specification, ADATA S511 SSD supports all hardware and firmware elements which works flawlessly.
The ADATA S511 is capable of delivering up to 550/520MB read and write speeds respectively, with 4K random write speeds as high as 60,000 IOPS.
The ADATA S511 SSD is also equipped with SATA II and mini-USB 2.0 dual interface, providing greater convenience and flexibility and the SSD can be used either as an external portable storage, or as an installed disk in laptop.
In addition, with a 3.5-inch converter (available separately), the ADATA S511 SSD can also be installed in desktop PC.
The brushed aluminum chassis of the ADATA S511 SSD is designed for fast heat dissipation, while bringing impressive elegant demeanor.
SandForce SF-2200 Controller
The ADATA S511 SSD is equipped with DDR2 128M cache buffer and it utilizes next-generation SandForce SF-2200 controller, providing read speed up to 550MB per second, while write speed up to 520MB/s, which is considerably much higher than its former model S596 or S596 Turbo solid state drives. At such incredible data transfer speed, transferring a 5GB video file can be completed in just under 15 seconds.
Data Transfer Rates for various models
- 60GB – Read : Up to 550MB/S Write : Up to 500MB/S
- 120GB – Read : Up to 550MB/S Write : Up to 510MB/S
- 240GB – Read : Up to 550MB/S Write : Up to 520MB/S
- 480GB – Read : Up to 540MB/S Write : Up to 460MB/S
Only 68 gms in weight, the S511 SSD utilizes the next generation of Flash technology and DDR2 SDRAM cache buffer to provide an amazingly fast boot-up time of just 23 seconds on platforms running Windows 7.
Traditional rotating platter based mechanical drives are not capable of the corresponding high-speed read and write tasks. As a result, some newly-purchased computers can only utilize a fraction of the performance available when equipped with a traditional hard drive.
The S511 solid state drive provides vibration-free running and low power consumption while taking full advantage of the 6Gb bandwidth data transmission capability.
In addition, the device’s firmware supports Windows TRIM command, which significantly shortens the boot-up time and because of the new controller, the stability of ADATA S511 SSD is largely raised, ridding users of sudden standstill during data transmission.
All purchases of S511 SDD can download the free ADATA Migration Software that has been developed in partnership with Acronis which can be downloaded free of charge from the ADATA website. It facilitates the quick transfer of all files to the new solid state drive, significantly reducing the troublesome and time-consuming process of reinstalling software and restoring data from backups.
Users of ADATA S511 SSD can also download Norton Internet Security 2011 (60-day trial) for free and experience enhanced mobility and security with just few mouse clicks away.
The S511 SSD is available in 60, 120, 240, and 480 GB storage capacities and is completely in compliance with Windows 7 and Mac Snow Leopard. All ADATA SDDs are backed by 3-year product warranty. For more information, please visit www.adata-group.com.
