HTC SALSA Android Powered Smartphone Launched in India for Rs. 22,000

HTC has launched in India market the new HTC SALSA Smartphone featuring a dedicated Facebook button that allows users one-touch access to the key functions of the Facebook service that are integrated throughout the HTC Sense experience.

Unveiled initially to the work at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) Feb, 2011 the new HTC SALSA Android powered smartphone, along with earlier announced HTC ChaCha smartphone is built entirely to be social networking phone, combining the HTC Sense user interface with the power and connectivity of Facebook via a unique touch-sensitive dedicated Facebook button for that enables one-touch access to the key functions of the Facebook service integrated right throughout the HTC Sense user interface.

The dedicated Facebook button on HTC SALSA smartphone is context-aware which keeps gently pulsing with light whenever there is an opportunity to share content or updates through Facebook allowing users update their status, upload a photo, share a Website, post what song they are listening to, ‘check in’ to a location and more.

For example, user can upload the pictures shot using the HTC Salsa smartphone instantly to their Facebook account by simply pressing the dedicated Facebook button or let their friends know what song they’re listening to by pressing the button while listening to music on the phone which instantly share the track that is automatically identified.

The HTC Salsa is so tightly integrated with the Facebook service that when user make a phone call or receives a call from their Facebook friend, the dialer screen automatically displays their friend’s latest status and photos, and alert them it their birthday is approaching using Facebook features.

Powered by 600 MHz Qualcomm processor the HTC SALSA Social Smartphone features Accelerometer sensor, and Proximity sensor and is based on Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread operating system for mobile devices with the next-generation HTC Sense touchscreen version 3.0 user interface with cloud services and features four touch sensitive buttons.

Measuring 109.1 x 58.9 x 12.3 mm, the new HTC SALSA Android Social phone is quad-band 2G and dual-band 3G (900/2100) network ready device that has a 3.4-inch HVGA 320 x 480 pixel 256K colors TFT Capacitive touchscreen display, and is equipped with 512MB RAM and 512MB ROM along with microSD card slot offering up to 32GB expandable memory.

HTC SALSA phone features dual camera – a 5.0 megapixel auto-focus rear facing digital camera with 2592 x 1944 pixels still picture resolution, geo-tagging, face-detection and built-in LED flash also allowing users record video and a secondary front-facing VGA resolution camera for video calling.

HTC SALSA smartphone weighs just under 120 gms and offers exhaustive data connectivity options that includes GPRS, EDGE, dual-band 3G HSDPA  7.2 Mbps, 3G HSUPA 384 Kbps download speed, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP+EDR, WiFi 802.11b/g/N wireless LAN and microUSB 2.0 port for wired connection and recharging,

Other features of HTC Salsa social smartphone includes FM radio with RDS, GPS with A-GPS support, Digital compass, audio media player supporting, video media player, Google applications, Adobe Flash 10.1 support and access to Android Market with over 100,000 free and paid apps for Android platform.

The smartphone comes preloaded with FriendStream application that connects to Facebook, Twitter and Flickr networks and present the updates in a consolidated view.
