Nikon has introduced its latest Nikon D5100 Digital SLR Camera in India market, which is an mid-range Nikon DX-format digital-SLR camera featuring a vari-angle monitor and offers 16.2 megapixel digital sensor offering full 1080p HD video recording at up to 30 fps.
The NIKON D5100 Digital-SLR Camera is equipped with a new CMOS image sensor developed by Nikon and a new image-processing engine that enable capture of high-definition images exhibiting superior image quality, and a Guide mode that allows users to capture images just as they intended.
The Nikon D5100 is equipped with a vari-angle monitor and features a CMOS image sensor in addition to the EXPEED 2 image-processing engine which enable high-resolution rendering and rich expression of tones.
Part of the popular D5000 series which introduced for first time the vari-angle monitor that allows users to enjoy flexible shooting from a wide variety of angles , the Nikon D5100 DLSR features a larger vari-angle monitor of 3-inch 921K-dot and has a side hinge which enables flexible use from more angles with hand-held shooting and when the camera is mounted on a tripod.
The vari-angle monitor opens from 0 to 180° to the side, and can be rotated up to 90 degree clockwise and up to 180 degree counter-clockwise when it is open, enabling users shoot from a wide variety of angles, from low to high, making even self portraits possible.
The NIKON D5100 Digital-SLR Camera is equipped with a new Nikon DX-format CMOS image sensor and a new image-processing engine, EXPEED 2, both developed by Nikon. The CMOS image sensor offers an effective pixel count of 16.2-million pixels and enables capture of high-definition images exhibiting superior image quality with extremely detailed rendering and rich tones.
The D5100 camera also makes the most of its standard sensitivity settings from ISO 100 to 6400 in steps of 1/3 EV and additional increases up to HI 2 (ISO 12800 equivalent), with shooting under dim lighting, such as in the evening or indoors, as well as with sports scenes of rapidly moving subjects.
The NIKON D5100 Digital-SLR Camera is equipped with the D-Movie function that enables recording of stunning Full HD, 1080p resolution (1920x1080p, 30p) movies (with monaural sound) in up to 30 fps. In addition it also features a Special Effects mode with which a variety of special effects can be applied to still images and movies.
The D5100 also allows high-speed continuous shooting at up to approximately 4 fps and is equipped with Quiet shutter-release mode for shooting in situations in which quieter shutter operation is desired.
The Nikon D5100 DSLR is also equipped with 16 scene modes for shooting which enable users to simply capture photos of the desired scene with automatic optimization of camera settings and has built-in HDMI-CEC compatibility which enables control over playback of still images and movies using the television’s remote control when the camera is connected to a high-definition TV via the HDMI connector.
Sharing and editing video clips is also easier than ever, as the D5100 records movies in the versatile H.264 AVCHD codec (.mov file). While playing movies back in the camera, users are able to edit recorded videos by clipping footage from the beginning or end of a movie.
High Definition movies and stills can be shared with family and friends on an HD television via HDMI output, and control slideshows and video using the HDMI Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) interface that is a part of most modern remote controls from HDTV manufacturers.
Additionally, the D5100 is compatible with the new SDXC memory card format (in addition to SD memory card slot) to store large amounts of photo and video data so users can shoot multiple scenes without interruption.

The NIKON D5100 Digital-SLR Camera with the versatile AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR image stabilization lens would soon be available in India for Rs. 39,950, while only Nikon D5100 DSLR body (without zoom lens) would come with MRP of Rs. 34,450 with warranty.
