HTC today launched in India the HTC Desire S Smartphone which is powered by 1GHz Qualcomm processor and is based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform with HTC Sense user interface that makes the phones work in a more simple and natural way.
Having introduced the world’s first 4G smartphone in 2008, and the world’s first 4G Android smartphone in 2010, HTC’s new Desire S smartphone is company’s first smartphone powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread and in fact successor to the popular HTC Desire series of Android smartphone, and is also inspired by the HTC Legend smartphone’s aluminium design.
The HTC Desire S smartphone is worthy successor of the HTC Desire series smartphone which was received very well and is a very successful model in India market, and is build out of a single block of aluminum making it feel solid and natural in your hand and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system with HTC Sense user interface on top of the Android 2.3.
Unveiled first at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 201, the HTC Desire S Android smartphone is quad-band 2G and dual-band 3G HSDPA network ready device that has a 3.7-inch WVGA 480 x 800 pixel super LCD Capacitive touchscreen display made with Gorilla Glass, and is equipped with 768MB RAM and 1.1GB internal storage along with microSD card slot offering up to 32GB expandable memory.
Powered by 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor with Adreno 205 graphics chipset, the HTC Desire S smartphone features Accelerometer sensor, and Proximity sensor and is based on Android 2.2 Froyo operating system for mobile devices with the next-generation HTC Sense touchscreen user interface with cloud services.
It also includes Accelerometer sensor, Proximity sensor and features touch sensitive Android control buttons at the bottom of the device.
The HTC Desire S smartphone dual cameras – a 5.0 megapixel auto-focus rear facing digital camera with 2592 x 1944 pixel still picture resolution, geo-tagging, face-detection and built-in LED flash also allowing users record video is 720p HD resolution at 30 fps. The smartphone also features a 1.2 megapixel resolution secondary front-facing camera for video calling.
HTC Desire S smartphone offers exhaustive data connectivity options that includes GPRS, EDGE, dual-band 4G HSDPA 14.4 Mbps, 3G HSUPA 5.76 Mbps download speed, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP+EDR, WiFi 802.11b/g/N wireless LAN with DLNA and microUSB 2.0 port for wired connection and recharging,
Other features of HTC Desire S smartphone includes FM radio with RDS, GPS with A-GPS support, Digital compass, audio media player supporting MP3/AAC+/WAV/WMA files, video media player supporting DivX/Xvid 720p HD files, Dolby Mobile and SRS surround sound (in supplied headset), Google applications, Adobe Flash 10.1 support, WiFi Hotspot, and access to Android Market with over 150,000 free and paid apps for Android platform.

The HTC Desire S comes with Li-ion 1450 mAh battery that can provide up to 10 hrs of talktime and 450 hrs of standby time on 2G (7 hrs talktime, 450 hrs standby on 3G) network and also offers users the ability to pinpoint the location of a lost phone on a map and send a command to make the phone sound an alert or even while on “silent” mode, through the htcsense.com website.
