Samsung Galaxy Players Announced Featuring 4-inch or 5-inch Display & Android 2.2 Froyo OS

Samsung today expands its Galaxy family of mobile and portable devices with addition of the unique Samsung Galaxy Player which is a scaled down variation of Samsung Galaxy S i9000 Smartphone but without phone features and without Super AMOLED screen. The Galaxy player is powered by Google Android OS 2.2 Froyo and features 4-inch / 5-inch Capacitive  SCLCD Touchscreen display with Samsung’s TouchWiz 3.0 user interface.

First unveiled at CES 2011, the Samsung Galaxy Player features 4-inch or 5-inch screen and are ideal to enjoy games, music, videos, social media and e-books, yet still easily fit in a pants pocket.

Both the Samsung Galaxy Player models are armed with 1-GHz ARM Cortex A8 Humingbird Processor and SGX540 GPU and are powered by Google Android operating system v2.2 Froyo upgradable to Android 2.3 Gingerbread and comes with 8GB internal memory and offers up to 32GB external expandable memory via microSD card.

Measuring 122.4 x 64.2 x 9.9 mm the Samsung Galaxy Media Player weighs only 112 grams and has a large 4.0 inch, 480 x 800 pixels 16-Million colors capable Super Clear LCD Capacitive touchscreen or 5.0 inch WVGA TFT-LCD Capacitive display and also offers T-DMB SoundAlive audio enhancement. The display in both models support HD video.

The Samsung Galaxy Player touchecreen  media player is powered by Samsung’s TouchWIZ v3.0  technology which has a Widgets feature that enables users to have a selection of widget style mini applications open on its home screen and includes stereo speakers for enjoying music or videos, and support for Adobe Flash 10.1 to access virtually any content on the Web.

A whole variety of widgets are available, which users can activate by swiping of a finger, which displays information from the phone, accessing images, music and other content and provide a quick way to access various functions in the handset.

Scaled down version of Samsung Galaxy S i9000 Smartphone, the new Samsung Galaxy media player comes with 8-GB of internal memory along with 512-MB of RAM and offers microSD card slot for up to 32-GB expandable memory.

The Galaxy media player also featues wireless WiFi 802.11/b/g/n connectivity option with DLNA and comes equipped with most latest Bluetooth 3.0 support with A2DP.

To be available in only full White and Black colors, the Samsung Galaxy Player comes with 3.2  megapixel auto-focus rear-facing main camera with geo-tagging / face and smile detection, 4X digital zoom, and video recording capability. The handset is capable of video playback in 720p HD and also includes a front-facing VGA resolution camera for video calling.

Samsung Galaxy Players comes with Qik applications for VoIP calls over a WiFi connection; Skype will also be pre-loaded on the 4” model. A microphone and speaker in the device provides a comfortable and natural communications experience.

In addition, both devices allows social networking integration allowing users to download popular apps like Facebook, Twitter and many others to take full advantage of the generous 4-inch and 5-inch touchscreen.

Besides Stereo speakers, with Virtual 5.1 surround sound and Samsung’s SoundAlive post-processing technology, makes these Samsung Galaxy Players a portable boombox to enliven any occasion.

Both Samsung Galaxy Player models support numerous multimedia formats natively, eliminating the need to transcode files. Videos in the popular DivX, Xvid, WMV, MPEG4 and H.264 formats play effortlessly.

Other features of this Samsung Galaxy Media Player includes built-in GPS with A-GPS support, Digital compass, integrated media player supporting MP3 / AMR / AAC / AAC+ / e-AAC+ files.

Both the Galaxy Player models are DLNA Certified and support AllShare – so content can be streamed to and from a PC or television without wires – anywhere in the home..

In addition, the Samsung Galaxy media player is equipped with 3.5 mm audio jack and support for DNSe (Digital Natural Sound Engine) that provides 3D sound. The handset though lacks support for HDMI and TV out ports.

The Samsung Galaxy media player also offers access to Google Android Market which allows users access over 150,000 free and paid applications. The Web browsing experience on the Galaxy Player devices is unparalleled. Support for Adobe Flash 10.1 means no limits – and no frustration – when browsing online.

Both Samsung Galaxy Media Players run Android version 2.2 (Froyo) and will be upgradeable to version 2.3 (Gingerbread) and would comes with 1200 mAh Li-Ion removable battery that offers upto 4.5 hours of video playback and upto 35 hours of continuous music playback.
