Akai has unveiled in India its first budget-priced Triple-SIM GSM handset, the Akai TRIO Mobile Phone that offers Triple-Sim (GSM+GSM+GSM) functionality, and features 2.0-inch display, microSD card support for expandable memory and boasts of up to 5 hrs talk time.
The Akai TRIO phone is a regular candybar type featuring Triple-SIM (GSM+GSM+GSM) capable Dual-band GSM 900/1800 MHz mobile phone that is equipped with a larger 2.0-inch 65K color capable QVGA TFT color display and features a large menu key for easier access to all the functions.
The triple-SIM capable Akai TRIO phone competes directly with recently announced triple-SIM capable handsets like Zen M111 mobile phone that supports GSM+GSM+GSM SIMs, and Triple-SIM capable Olive Wiz V-GC800 mobile phone that supports CDMA+GSM+GSM networks. There is also a triple-SIM mobile phone from Intex which was introduced in India last year.
The Olive Wiz V-GC800 triple-SIM mobile comes with 2.2-inch display and has QWERTY keypad while Akai Trio has 2.1-inch display and packs 1500 mAh battery for extended talk time of 5 hrs on otherwise battery draining triple-SIM setup.
The Akai TRIO mobile phone features unspecified amount of internal memory and is equipped with microSD card slot that allows upto 8-GB expandable memory storage and allows 500 entries phone book and 300 SMS memory. The handset also offers picture ID and Ring ID features.
The Akai TRIO triple-SIM mobile phone also includes 1.3 megapixel resolution digital camera with video recording capability. Wireless FM radio (no recording) and a basic MP3 media player with Equalizer, video player for 3GP and MPEG4 files in 15 fps, and built-in Speaker.
For data connectivity, Akai TRIO triple-SIM mobile phone offers GRPS/WAP, Bluetooth v2.0 for wireless connectivity and microUSB port for wired connection and battery recharging. The handset lacks EDGE and WiFi options being budget priced offering but boasts of a powerful built-in torch light.
The Akai TRIO triple-SIM handset also offers Speed-Dialing function that allows users find and dial any desired contact more quickly in few easy steps saving a lot of time and frustration and can be used as mass storage device and also feature Java support and games. It is not clear if the handset features a 3.5 mm audio out port or not.
There is also a powerful LED based torch that is claimed to provide upto 4 hours of continuous light and the phone also support for both English and Hindi language in menu and navigation.
The Akai TRIO also boats of a built-in blacklisting function that allows users to automatically filter out unwanted calls.
The Akai TRIO triple-SIM mobile phone also offers support for polyphonic and MP3 ringtones and also features Torch, a universal all-in-one micro USB v1.1 port connection, Mobile Tracker, Blacklist call and SMS and applications like world clock, alarm clock, calculator, calendar and stopwatch etc.
