iTwin today announced a limited availability of a first generation plug’n’play iTwin USB Device that enables simple and safe data transfer between any two USB-enabled computers.
The iTwin USB device is a user-friendly hardware device for connecting two online computers, anywhere in the world, safely and simply. It supports Microsoft Windows 7, Windows XP and Windows Vista.
While conventional USB flash drives offers direct data storage (with space limitations and privacy risks), the iTwin’s award-winning product comprises two identical halves that resemble a standard USB drive, that need only be plugged into USB ports of any two computers user wishes to share, for them to be instantly connected and secured by hardware-based encryption.
iTwin users can travel without a laptop, copy or back-up proprietary work documents, files and folders and remotely access and edit files on one computer from another, ensuring complete versioning control on files with multiple contributors.
The device also is the the best way to create a family network to share photos from the latest vacation or wedding or exchange documents.
In today’s highly mobile world, people use multiple devices between work and home, yet files are kept in silos and not easily merged. iTwin USB device allows users to safely keep all their files in one place, while providing access to them from anywhere.
Since the device does not actually store any data, the only capacity limitation is the size of your computer’s hard drive. As the iTwin device does not store any data, this eliminates the risk of loss or theft.
Measuring only 9 x 2.1 x 0.8 mm in size and weighing about 50 grams, the tiny iTwin’s casing is made out of anodized aluminium metal, which provides a great finish and look and makes it highly scratch-resistant and tough.
iTwin device supports built-in 256-bit AES encryption for enhanced data security and as only the two halves of iTwin USB device know the key, and iTwin generates a new key every time the two halves are paired, the device delivers ultimate data security.
According to company, if one half of the iTwin is lost, the connection between the two halves can be disabled, therefore denying access. Besides the iTwin can also be password protected that provides an additional layer of security.
