RIM Launches BlackBerry Bold 9780 Smartphone in India; Features Blackberry 6 OS & 5MP Camera

Research In Motion (RIM) today formerly announced the newest addition to the Blackberry Bold series handset in India, the BlackBerry Bold 9780 Smartphone that features a large 2.4-inch, brand new Blackberry 6 OS and a full QWERTY keyboard along with packing a wide range of communication and multimedia features.

Featuring a premium and iconic design with an incredibly easy-to-use keyboard and revolutionary optical trackpad, the BlackBerry Bold 9780 smartphone is the first BlackBerry Bold smartphone to come with the new BlackBerry 6 operating system which is now available in India for Rs. 26,900 from leading leading mobile carriers.

Featuring quite similar looks and feel of its predecessor Blackberry Bold 9700 smartphone, this new Blackberry model delivers a wide range of enhancements including a brand new rich user interface, a fast and powerful WebKit-based browser like in Android OS, broadly improved communications and multimedia capabilities, an incredibly useful Universal Search feature in addition to a high quality new 5 megapixel camera.

The quad-band GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz and 3G HSDPA network ready Blackberry Bold 9780 smartphone sports a stylish design has 2.4-inch 400 x 360 pixels TFT scratch resistant display and includes 512 MB Flash memory and an expandable memory card slot that supports up to 32 GB of additional storage.

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 smartphone supports 3G networks around the world, includes Wi-Fi 802.11b/g wireless LAN with support for carrier supported Wi-Fi calling (UMA where available) and GPS for location-based applications and geo-tagging.

The Bluetooth v2.0 with Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) allows listening to music on bluetooth compatible headset like 3.5mm HSP headset absolutely wire-free and in full stereo.

The smartphone is also equipped with standard fast USB v2.0 port (miniUSB port) which is used for both power recharging and PC connectivity for data exchange.

The included media player in BlackBerry Bold 9780 smartphones is a full featured media player that allows playing video and audio files. Audio media files supports AAC-LC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR-NB, WMA9 (.wma/.asf), WMA9 PRO/WMA 10, and AAC-LC and Video format supports MP4/MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV3 files and file transfer is fairly fast using USB v2.0 interface.

In addition, it also offers 3.5 mm audio out port to allow users plugin their choice of headphones. One can play, rewind, fast forward, equalize, shuffle tracks and create playlists – just like in any other digital music player.
