Nokia X5 Slider Phone Launched in India; Priced at Rs. 10,499

Nokia has today announced the availability in India of its entertainment-oriented Xseries range of new Nokia X5-01 Mobile Phone which clad a rather unusual squarish shape and features a full slider QWERTY keyboard, 3G network connectivity, 5.0 MP digital camera and dedicated music keys.

Appearing to be a cross between Nokie Xpress music-centric series and Nokia E series smartphone, the new Nokia X5 aks X5-01 reminded of a MiniDisc player in its look and visual stylings and it features excellent sound quality, dedicated music keys and loud speakers, and includes access to Ovi Music with direct download capability. The user interface predominantly resembles with that found on Nokia’s popular Xpress music phones with slidable picture contacts on the top of screen and five shortcuts at the bottom part.

The Nokia X5 QWERTY phone supports all the major Instant Messengers and Webmail services like Gmail and Yahoo, straight out of the box and also offers easy access to major social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and Hi5.

Armed with ARM 11 434 MHz Processor the Nokia X5-01 smartphone is powered by Symbian OS 9.3 Series 60 v3.2 operating system and is Quadband GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and triband 3G HSDPA 900/1900/2100 MHz network ready.

The Nokia X5 Smartphone has a large 2.36 inch, 256K colors 320 x 240 pixels TFT display running Symbian Series 60 OS and is equipped with Proximity sensor for auto phone turn off and Accelerometer sensor for auto rotate. The handset’s unique feature includes a slide-out full QWERTY keypad.

The Nokia X5 mobile comes with 200-MB of internal memory and offers microSD memory card slot supporting upto 32-GB expandable memory. A 2-GB memory card is included in the package.

The smartphone offers exhaustive data connectivity options under the sun including GPRS class 32, hi-speed EDGE class 32, ultra-fast 3G HSDPA 3.6 Mbps connection, wireless WiFi 802.11/b/g connectivity option and comes equipped with Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support and microUSB USB port for wired connectivity.

Offering five dazzling colors that includes Pink, Azure, Graphite Black, Yellow Green, and Purple the new Nokis X5 smartphone comes equipped with a powerful 5.0 megapixel geo-tagging capable camera with digital zoom, 2592 x 1944 pixels resolution, Autofocus option and Carl Zeiss optics along with a dual LED flash. It also allows video recording in full VGA resolution @ 30 fps or QCIF @ 15 fps.

Other features of this Nokia X5 slider QWERTY phone’s other features includes: Stereo FM radio with RDS, TV out port, 3.5 mm audio out port, integrated media player (MP3/WMA/WAV/RA/AAC/M4A) and video player with support for popular video file formats including WMV, RV, MP4 and mobile standard 3GP files.

The powerful battery allows video playing for 4.5 hours and is claimed to provide 24-hrs of continuous music playback and also includes a fun app ‘Surprise me’ that allows users to play random tracks by just spinning their phones.

The Nokia X5-01 slider phone weighs 129 gms and it supports JAVA MIDP 2.0, offers organizer, document viewer for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF documents, has support for Flash Lite v3.0, includes WAP 2.0 with xHTML browser along with full HTML browser capability.

In addition, the Nokia X5 phone also offers integration of popular social networking services including Facebook, Twitter, Hi5, and MySpace, and includes popular Instant Messengers applications and Email support for multiple email accounts and Push Email support. The phone is equipped with a unique feature that shows up unread messages on screen on having shaken the phone slightly.

The new Nokia X5 smartphone  comes equipped with with standard Li-Ion battery that offers upto 385 hrs (16 days) standby time and 4.5 hours of talktime on 2G network.
