ViewSonic Launches ViewPad 7 Tablet Powered by Android 2.2 FroYo

ViewSonic has announced its ViewPad line of Android-based devices, featuring the ViewSonic ViewPad 7 tablet which is powered by 600 MHz ARM11 Qualcomm MSM7227 processor and runs Android 2.2 FroYo operating system.


The new ViewSonic ViewPad 7 Tablet has very uncanny resemblance to the Olive’s recently announced OlivePad VT100 3G Android Powered Tablet PC which is based on Android 2.2 Froyo platform that combines a powered 600 MHz ARM11 Qualcomm MSM7227 processor with 3.5G capable data technology in a lightweight, pocket-sized 7-inch form factor.

Sporting an 800 x 480 WVGA capacitive multi-touch LCD screen type screen with 350 cd/m2 brightness and 500:1 contrast ratio, the ViewPad 7 is one of the only 7-inch tablet solutions with Android Google Mobile Services (GMS) which allows consumers to connect to a selection of more than 100,000 apps and games in Google Android Market service in addition to offering dedicated applications for Gmail, YouTube and many more for a superior and convenient entertainment solution that fits today’s mobile lifestyle.

The ViewPad 7 is 3G ready and also features wireless 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR wireless connectivity allowing instant messaging, VoIP, and all the web browsing and USB connectivity functions of a capacitive multi-touch device.

Other hardware features of the revolutionary ViewSonic ViewPad 7 tablet includes two built-in cameras: a 3-megapixel, auto focus camera in the rear and a 0.3 megapixel camera in the front for video calling.

In addition the ViewSonic ViewPad 7 tablet comes with 512MB internal storage and offers up to an additional 32GB of storage capacity via the microSD memory card slot, along with battery life of up to 10 hours.

Measuring 7.06″ x 4.33″ x 0.45″ (179.4mm x 110mm x 11.5mm), some of the other features includes built-in GPS with A-GPS support, eReader supporting TXT, HTML, EPUB, PDF, Office files, G-Sensor, E-Compass sensor and ambient light sensor, 3.5mm audio jack for stereo headset, and mini-USB connector for wired connectivity.

Fully multimedia capable, the 7-inch ViewPad 7 tablet can be used as a high quality eBook reader, play movies and games or be your one and only productivity tool. It also offers Google’s speech-to-text feature that captures information audibly so you can get more done. For constantly on-the-go professionals, the Document-To-Go feature lets you upload and edit Word, Excel or PowerPoint, with viewing support for PDF files.

The ViewPad 7 comes with Li-Polymer, 3240mAH battery that allows 4-6 hrs of continuous use or 600 hrs of standby time with full charge.

Price and Availability

The Android powered ViewSonic ViewPad 7 tablet will be available in late Q4 2010 for an ESP of $479 or about Rs. 21,560.
