Dell has today announced another mid-range 3G ready Android touchscreen handsets, the Dell XCD35 Smartphone in India which is powered by Android 2.1 OS, featuring 3.5-inch high-resolution AMOLED capacitive touchscreen.
The Dell XCD35 smartphone is actually rebranded version of China’s ZTE Blade smartphone (sold in UK and Europe market) and is competitively priced against similar featured Android smartphones in India.
Targeted specifically at addressing key use cases at such price points, the Dell XCD35 is tri-band GSM network ready smartphone that is powered by Qualcomm MSM 7227 600 MHz processor and runs Android 2.1 Eclair operating system that includes built-in Google Android Market access.
The XCD35 sports a large 3.5-inch (similar to Apple iPhone) 256K colors 480 x 800 pixel AMOLED resistive touchscreen display and is equipped with Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate.
The Dell XCD35 comes with 512-MB of internal memory and includes microSD memory card slot supporting up to 32GB expandable memory.
For data connectivity, the Dell XCD35 smartphone offers full range of options that includes GPRS, EDGE, 3G HDSPA 7.2Mbps connection, 3G HSUPA connection, WiFi 802.11b/g wireless LAN, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP wireless connection and microUSB 2.0 port for wired connectivity.
Other hardware features includes FM radio with RDS, built-in GPS with A-GPS support and Google Maps, 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera with maximum 2048 x 1536 pixel still picture resolution and video recording capability. Strangely, there is no front facing camera for video calling.
Other features of Dell XCD35 include JAVA MIDP 2.1 support, WAP, Audio player supporting MP4/H.264/H.263 files and video player supporting MP3/WAV/eAAC+ files, Document viewer for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF files.
Measuring 116 x 56.5 x 11.8 mm and weighing 130 gms, the Dell XCD35 smartphone comes with Full HTML Android Webkit browser with Adobe Flash Lite support and Android Market gives users access to more than 100,000 apps and widgets, allowing users to freely customize the smartphone to their taste and liking.
Supporting threaded-SMS/MMS/EMS the Dell XCD35 Android smartphone also features Email software supporting corporate (Exchange), Gmail, IMAP, POP3, attachment and browser document viewer including Microsoft Office and pdf, HTML email composer.
The phone also offers IM application supporting AOL Instant Messenger, Windows Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger, and Google Talk. In addition, it comes with integrated Google search, Google Maps, Gmail, Google Talk, Google Calendar, and applications for Facebook and Twitter.

The Dell XCD35 smartphone would be available for Rs. 16,990. As a first in the Indian market for smartphones at these price points, Dell XCD35 comes with one year Advanced Exchange Warranty that assures users with an immediate replacement option if faced with any hardware issue with their Dell smart phone.
