Motorola DROID PRO Smartphone Launched With Android v2.2 FroYo & 5 MP Camera

Motorola has introduced a brand new Android-based smartphones, the Motorola DROID PRO Smartphone, powered by Android v2.2 FroYo, providing consumers and business IT departments greater choices and flexibility when selecting devices for their needs.


The MOTOROLA DROID PRO Smartphone is a feature-packed device that helps manage work and social life with fast 1GHz processor, ultra high-speed Web browsing, 3G Mobile HotSpot capabilities, full push corporate e-mail, intuitive social messaging and Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for access to the full web — all built on Android v2.2 FroYo.

The Motorola DROID PRO smartphone includes new Bluetooth accessories featuring MotoSpeak 2.0 also deliver the ultimate hands-free experience to consumers who are on the go and looking to maximize their productivity.

The MotoSpeak v2.0 delivers the latest text-to-speech and speech-to-text technology, allowing users to have their text messages read aloud and to dictate responses. MotoSpeak also informs users who is calling and texting by announcing the callers’ names.

New Motorola DROID PRO is the first ever smartphone built on Android for business usage designed to addresses the growing desire from employers and employees for business-ready solutions with enhanced features for a richer personal mobile experience.

Powered by a 1 GHz processor and running Google’s Android 2.2 FROYO operating system, the Motorola DROID PRO smartphone is dual-band CDMA 800/1900, triband 3G HSDPA and 3G CDMA2000 1xEV-DO network ready mobile device and it features a 3.1-inch screen TFT Capacitive touchscreen display with 320 x 480 resolution and 16M colors support and and a QWERTY keyboard designed for speed and convenience. The Motorola DROID PRO smartphone includes 8 GB of onboard memory along with 512 MB RAM and a pre-installed 2 GB ROM. Besides it can be expanded to up to 40 GB with the addition of a 32 GB memory card. A 8GB card comes with the phone.

For data connectivity, DROID PRO offers Stereo Bluetooth v2.1 EDR with A2DP, WiFi 802.11b/g/N wireless networking with DLNA, GPRS class 12, EDGE Class 12, 3G HSDPA 10.2 Mbps, 3G HSUPA 5.76 Mbps connection and microUSB v2.0 port.

The MOTOROLA DROID PRO delivers the ultimate Web experience with Adobe Flash Player 10.1 to browse, with rich applications and content inside the browser. Users can share wireless connection using the 3G Mobile Hotspot to connect up to five of their friends’ devices including PCs, mobile devices and other Wi-Fi compatible devices.

The MOTOROLA DROID PRO Smartphone is powered by latest Android 2.2 (Froyo) build Google unveiled at Google I/O and users can also download favorite apps from Android Market, which has more than 100,000 applications.

Google mobile apps are obviously a standard for this device and include Google’ search and search by voice, Google Maps with Street View, Google Latitude, a YouTube widget, Gmail Google Calendar.

The MOTOROLA DROID PRO Smartphone also sports several pre-loaded applications, including Swype gesture application for using gestures to create and send e-mail messages at up to 50 words per minute, Skype for Mobile, NFL Mobile and a Blockbuster mobile application.

Motorola security additions including AuthenTec IPSec multi-headed VPN integration, remote wipe of device & SD card, and complex password support. Plus, device and SD card encryption will be available in early 2011.

Price and Availability

The new Motorola DROID PRO smartphone comes with Li-Ion 1420 mAh battery that provides upto 8 hours of talk time on 2G network and 300 hrs of stand-by time on 2G network. The DROID PRO would be available in first week of November 2010 in US US but Motorola has not yet revealed its prices and availability in any market as yet.
