Canon today announces the latest addition to its renowned L-series of professional lenses, the Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM Super-Telephoto Lens, designed to meet demands of professional photographers that allows performance excellence with a versatile zoom range and superb image quality in a robust and compact design.
The Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM telephoto lens is the 5th generation in Canon’s 400mm f/2.8 series and the successor to the current EF 400mm introduced in 1999, and have become famous for their exceptional sharpness, contrast and color fidelity.
The Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM Super-Telephoto Lens will appeal to nature, wildlife and sports photographers. The Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM Super-Telephoto Lens feature 16 elements in 12 different groups, using high performance fluorite lens elements that correct chromatic aberration to deliver high resolution and high contrast shots of the best possible quality – allowing photographers to capture images rich with edge-to-edge detail.

The overall durability of the Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM Super-Telephoto Lens has also been enhanced through increased usage of magnesium alloy and titanium for lens barrel components, together with weather sealing for all exterior joints and switches and a new fluorine anti-smear coating applied to the front and rear elements.
