Sony CyberShot DSC-TX9 3D Capable Compact Digital Camera Launched

Sony has unveiled its new DSC series Sony CyberShot DSC-TX9 compact digital camera that is the world’s smallest 3D cameras, capturing 3D images with a single lens system using a sweeping motion.


Sony Cybershot DSC-TX9 digital camera offer a 3D Sweep Panorama feature, which lets you take panoramic pictures in one press-and-sweep motion. The high-speed burst of frames is stitched together using innovative processing techniques to automatically create detail-packed 3D panoramas.

The images thus captured can be enjoyed in 2D or stunning 3D on compatible 3D televisions using 3D-compatible HDMI cables and 3D glasses.

Sony CyberShot DSC-TX9 compact digital camera which has a 3.5-inch 921K resolution LCD screen, also allows viewing images in a whole new way. Unlike 3D Sweep Panorama mode, which lets users view 3D images on compatible 3D television systems, Sweep Multi Angle in this model lets users view images moving in simulated 3D right on the cameras LCD screen by tilting the camera back and forth. This new shooting feature captures 15 images at different angles and then compiles them into one photo, creating a 3D-like effect on the display.

In addition to Sweep Multi Angle feature, the 12.2 megapixel Sony CyberShot DSC-TX9 models offer new features including Background Defocus, which simulates depth of field control and Superior Auto mode, which provides low image-noise levels previously only available from DSLR cameras.

Sony CyberShot DSC-TX9 compact digital camera is equipped with 12.2 megapixels CCD sensor and featuring 2.8-inch 240 x 400 pixels LCD Clear display and advance features such as Smile Shutter, Sweeping Panaroma, Anti Motion Blur and Handheld Twilight mode. The camera also offers 5x optical zoom lens-High quality optics that helps providing crisp, clear images at all zoom settings.

Equipped with 1/2.3 type (7.79 mm) 12.2 effective megapixel Sony SuperHAD CCD image sensor with RGB color filter array, the Sony DSC-TX9 digital camera supports ISO : Auto / 100 / 200 / 400 / 800 / 1600 / 3200 standards. In addition, it also offers ability to record 720p HD Quality Video in 1280 x 720 pixels resolution @ 30 fps and its built-in flash has extended range of up to 3.3 meters.

Sony CyberShot DSC-TX9 camera is equipped with back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor and features a ultra fast 24mm Sony G F2.4 wide-angle lens, that enables this camera to offer almost most of the capabilities otherwise offered by a larger and expensive H-series DSC-HX1. Besides, both the Exmor sensor and the G lens are of the same quality as in Sony expensive dSLR and prosumer camcorder lines of advanced cameras.

The Sony DSC-TX9 digital camera offers autofocusing to a minimum of just 5-cm at wide angle, or 50 centimeters at telephoto. The camera captures 4:3 aspect ratio images at up to 4,000 x 3,000 pixel resolution, and 16:9 aspect ratio images at up to 4,000 x 2,248 pixels.

Weighing 120 gms, the new Sony CyberShot DSC-TX9 digital camera comes with support Sony’s proprietary Memory Stick Duo, PRO Duo, PRO Duo High Speed, or PRO-HG Duo cards, along with the more common Secure Digital and Secure Digital High Capacity cards and it features SteadyShot for reduces blur during handheld shooting, Scene Selection Presets that offers choice of eight scene modes makes it easy to get excellent results under a wide range of conditions, Intelligent Auto feature that automatically adjusts exposure and other settings for optimum results in a wide range of shooting situations.

The new Sony DSC-TX9 cameras offers seven pre-programmed scene modes viz. High Sensitivity, Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Landscape, Soft Snap, Snow, and Beach, a clear photo LCD color display and come with a brushed metal chassis and also includes NTSC / PAL standard definition video output port, HDMI digital out port for direct connection to home HD TV, as well as USB 2.0 Hi-Speed port data connectivity.

In addition, some advance features of Sony CyberShot DSC-TX9 includes Face Detection that automatically adjusts focus, exposure and white balance for clearer portraits, Smile Shutter option that automatically fires shutter when subject smiles, and Easy Shooting mode option for a really fuss-free operation for beginners with simplified controls and easy-to-read on-screen instructions.

Sony DSC-TX9 digital camera has a more specialized modes viz the Sweeping Panorama that, unlike other shooters that require you to take several shots, lets users shoot horizontal or vertical panoramas with a single press of the shutter release. In addition, it also offers Anti Motion Blur and Handheld Twilight modes,  which allows quickly capture six images and combine them into one photo with less blur and better detail than otherwise possible with just one shot.

Sony CyberShot DSC-TX9 features AVCHD format which is used in Sony’s high-definition Handycam camcorders. Using which it can record movies in 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolutions in 60i at up to 17Mbps for smooth movement during playback. They can also capture videos in the MP4 format in up to 1440 x1080 30p 12Mbps for online sharing.

With a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 4x zoom lens, the Sony CyberShot DSC-TX9 compact camera lets users focus as little as 0.4 inches from your subject for extraordinary close-up shots. The 4x (25-100mm) wide-angle lens is perfect for capturing a wider view of your subject at closer distances.

The Sony DSC-TX9 digital camera is an ideal choice for DSLR owners who also want to carry a compact, high-performance point-and-shoot camera. With a Sony G lens (5x 24-120mm), the WX5 camera can capture an unusually wide range for its compact size and features a wide aperture enhancing low-light performance.

Sony DSC-TX9 comes with PMB Portable built-in transfer software that enables quick, easy uploads to image sharing sites when camera is connected to any web-enabled PC besides offering in-camera retouching feature allowing users in-camera image retouching including trim and red-eye correction.

Sony CyberShot DSC-TX9 3D capable compact digital camera would be available for $400 starting September in U.S and Europe this year.
