Samsung has announced its brand new offering in Galaxy brand Android lineup with introduction of its Samsung Galaxy Beam i8520 Mobile Projector Phone, that boasts of an integrated ‘Beam projector’ and is powered by Google Android OS.
The Samsung Galaxy Beam i8520 phone is the world’s first smartphone equipped with an integrated ‘beam projector’ which also offers powerful multimedia features such as an 8 megapixel camera, HD video recording &playing, and a 3.7 inch Super AMOLED WVGA display.
The Samsung Galaxy Beam i8520 smartphone, earlier known as Samsung Halo, is equipped with a large 3.7 inch 480 x 800 pixels WVGA Super AMOLED scratch resistant display which supports EDGE, GPRS, GSM Quad Band (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) and triband 3G (900 / 1900 / 2100 MHz) network ready and is powered by Google Android 2.1 OS.
The Samsung Galaxy Beam phone is also equipped with a built-in DLP pico projector and also includes built-in 4Gb ROM, 3Gb RAM and 16GB MoviNAND which can be expanded to upto 32-GB using microSD expansion memory card. It also includes Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate and Proximity sensor for auto-shutdown.
Measuring 123 x 59.8 x 14.9 mm with weight of 155 grams, the new Samsung Galaxy Bean projector smartophone also offers HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps connection, Bluetooth 3.0 + A2DP wireless connection, GRPS class 10, EDGE class 10, WiFi 802.11b/g/N wireless networking with DLNA, and USB v2.0 high speed port for wired connectivity. It also includes TV-Out port option and is DLNA ready. The in-build pico projector is expected to be powered by 1-MHz processor.
The Samsung Galaxy Bean i8520 smartphone comes equipped with 8.0 megapixel camera with auto-focus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, face, smile and blink detection features, offering maximum still picture resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels. The camera is also capable of video recording in 720p HD resolution @ 30fps. There is also a front facing VGA resolution camera for video calling.
Other features includes 3.5 mm audio out port, FM radio, GPS receiver with A-GPS support, supports MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV, DivX and Xvid video formats for video playback and MP3, OGG, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR-NB, AMR-WB, WMA, WAV, MID, AC3 for audio playback, Android market for application download, SMS/MMS/Email/Exchange ActiveSync option, RSS Reader, MS Document viewers, Mobile Widgets etc.

Weighing at 155 grams, the Samsung Galaxy Beam i8520 projector smartphone comes with powerful 1800 mAh battery that provides up to 7 hours of talk time and 530 hours in standby and would be available first in Singapore in July 2010.
There is no news about its availability and price for India market as yet.
