Sony Erricson today announced a 3G HSDPA ready Sony Ericsson CEDAR Mobile Phone that offers consumers fast and easy browsing capabilities with features such as 3G HSDPA network connectivity and easy access to e-mail and social networking sites and features various eco-friendly credentials.

In line with the our GreenHeart commitment, Sony Ericsson Cedar mobile phone features various green credentials such as recycled plastics, a low power consumption charger, an e-manual, waterborne paint and compact packaging.
The new Sony Ericsson CEDAR phone offers users an easy-to-use social networking experience with the Widget Manager 2.0 – an application which allows users access social networking via the stand-by screen. In addition, the phone also features the human curvature design that is now consistent across the Sony Ericsson portfolio.
The Sony Ericsson CEDAR phone supports UMTS HSDPA 2100 and GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS HSDPA 850/1900/2100 and EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 networks and comes with microSD expandable memory card of upto 16-GB additional expandable memory allowing 2000 entries phonebook
Sony Ericsson CEDAR features a 2.6-inch, 256K colors capable, 240 x 320 pixels TFT Capacitive full touchscreen display made of Scratch-resistant glass (min. pencil hardness 6H).
For data connectivity, Sony Ericsson CEDAR offers GPRS class 10, EDGE Class 10, 3G HSDPA 3.6 Mbps speed connection, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, and hi-speed microUSB 2.0 port. There is no support for WiFi. It includes NetFront 3.5 web browser that allows bookmarks.
Sony Ericsson CEDAR phone features 2.0 megapixel Autofocus camera with 1600 x 1200 pixels resolution with 4X digital zoom, which also allows quality video recoding capability (VGA resolution @ 30fps) in with multi-codec support. The camera also offers Direct picture upload to Facebook, Geo tagging, and Sony Ericsson Album application.
Strangely, this is the first 3G ready phone we found which does NOT feature a secondary VGA resolution front facing camera for video calling.

Available in choice of Black/Silver and Black/Red color combo offerings, the new Sony Ericsson CEDAR phone comes with with strong Li-Po 1000 mAh standard battery that allows upto 400 hrs standby time and upto 12 hrs of talk time on 2G network.
The Sony Ericsson CEDAR mobile music phone is expected to be available in Q3, 2010.
