Samsung Galaxy 3 (i5800) Smartphone Launched With TouchWiz UI 3.0 and Social Hub

Samsung has announced today its latest GALAXY family mobile phone, the Samsung Galaxy 3 I5800 Smartphone dubbed as Smart-Social-Media-Powerhouse which is powered by Google Android latest 2.1 Eclair platform and features 3.2-inch Touchscreen display with Accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate.

The Galaxy 3 i5800 smartphone supports the highly connected lifestyles of today’s younger mobile users who value a full range of social networking capabilities at their fingertips.

The Samsung i5800 Galaxy 3 features Samsung’s Social Hub, an integrated phonebook that links contacts from across social networks, allowing users to connect with friends across platforms and communicate seamlessly across networks. Users’ contact lists from sites including Facebook, MySpace and Twitter are accessible on one platform; ensuring that users can remain fully connected at all times. Social Hub also allows fans of social networking to view photos on their mobiles using the integrated media browser, and seamlessly upload, manage and share photos from Twitter, Facebook and Picasa or create a digital photo album while on the go.

Measuring 113.5 x 55 x 12.8 mm the Samsung i5800 Galaxy 3 smartphone weighs only 109.7 grams and has a large 3.2 inch, 320 x 400 pixels wide 16 million colors capable AMOLED Capacitive touchscreen and is equipped with Accelerometer sensor for auto rotate, and proximity sensor for auto turn off.

It also allows video recording in H.263 and MPEG4.

In addition, the Samsung i5700 Galaxy 3 handset is equipped with 3.5 mm audio jack and support for DNSe (Digital Natural Sound Engine) that provides 3D sound. The handset though lacks support for HDMI and TV out ports.

The Samsung i5800 Galaxy 3 Smartphone also features Google maps, which allows free walk and drive navigation and other locating options. In addition, there are more than 50,000 applications to choose from Android Market and users have access to Google mobile services such as Google Search, Gmail and Google Maps.

The smartphone also includes popular Android based apps including Google search, Google Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, and Google talk. There is inbuild support for MS document editors including Word, Excel and Powerpoint in addition to PDF.

The new Samsung i5800 Galaxy 3 smartphone comes equipped with with 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery that offers upto 625 hrs standby time and 15 hrs of talktime on 2G network. The phone allows upto 4.5 hours of video playback and upto 35 hours of continuous music playback.

The Android 2.1 powered Samsung i5800 Galaxy 3 Smartphone will be launched in July 2010 and would be expanded to Europe and Asia market.

Price and Availability

The Samsung Galaxy 3 i5800 is expected to sell in India for an estimated price of Rs. 31,000 with one year warranty.
