3G Ready Nokia E73 Mode Smartphone Announced

Nokia and T-Mobile USA, Inc. today announced the upcoming availability of the Nokia E73 Mode Smartphone, exclusively for T-Mobile customers, featuring 2.4-inch 16.7 million colors QVGA TFT display, GPS with A-GPS, 3G and Wi-Fi networking support and full QWERTY keypad.

Designed to help balance the need to stay connected with one’s work and personal life at home or on the go, the new Nokia E73 Mode, a Wi-Fi calling enabled QWERTY Smartphone operating on T-Mobile’s blazing-fast 3G network, includes Nokia’s unique Switch Mode feature, which allows consumers to switch between fully customizable home screens that help promote a work-life balance.

The thinnest full QWERTY keyboard smartphone, the Nokia E73 Mode is the perfect device for business customers and consumers who appreciate both form and function. Customers also continue to get great mobile coverage with the device’s Wi-Fi calling capabilities, which allow consumers to use both cellular and Wi-Fi networks for voice calling. With the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync client, one of the world’s most widely adopted corporate e-mail solutions, consumers can receive their corporate e-mail, contacts and calendar pushed directly to their device.

The new Nokia E73 Mode Smartphone runs Symbian OS 9.3, Series 60 v3.2 user interface and features 2.4-inch 240 x 320 pixels resolution (TFT) QVGA display capable of displaying massive 16.7 million true colors with automatic display orientation (landscape/portrait) using Accelerometer sensor and Motion sensor that silence the phone by turning it face down.

Expected to be available on June 16 through T-Mobile retail stores, the Smartphone is equipped with full QWERTY keypad and there is One-Touch keys for Home, Calendar, and Email function, Side volume keys, a Mute key and dedicated Camera key.

Only 10.2 mm thick, the new Nokia E73 Mode mobile phone features 5.0 Megapixel enhanced fixed-focus digital camera with maximum 2592 x 1944 pixels resolution. The camera also offers 4x digital zoom facility, and allows full screen viewfinder. Camera does not offer any integrated falsh and is not autofocus. The digital camera is also capable of recording video in full VGA resolution at upto 15 fps. There is also a secondary VGA resolution front-facing digital camera for video calling over 3G network.

The Nokia E73 Smartphone also offers integrated MP3 media player which supports MP3, WMA, WAV, RA, AAC, and M4A music file formats and the video player allows WMV, RV, MP4 and 3GP file support. There is also integrated FM stereo radio with Visual Radio feature and handset is capable of playing streaming video (3GPP).

3G ready Nokia E73 mobile phone comes with massive 250-GB of internal shared memory plus 256 MB NAND Flash and handset also supports microSD memory card with maximum of 16-GB of expandable memory to help store large volume of music, videos, and photos.

For data connectivity, the new Nokia E73 Smartphone includes EDGE (EGPRS) Class 32 with 296 kbps speed, GPRS Class 32 connection, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g wireless network connection, 3G functionality (HSDPA) with upto 10.2 Mbps speed, 3G HSUPA with upto 2 Mbps speed, infrared port IrDA (115 kbps) and USB v2.0 miniUSB port for wired connectivity.

In addition, Nokia E73 also offers built-in Bluetooth v2.1 EDR with A2DP connection. The wireless Bluetooth v2.0 connection with Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) allows listening to music on bluetooth compatible headset absolutely wire-free and in full stereo.

The EDGE Class 10 network connection offered by Nokia E73 mobilephone handset allows ultra fast data transmissions, and faster downloads and file transfers, while Bluetooth technology enables communication with other Bluetooth compatible devices and gadgets such as color printers, PDAs and laptops for instant sync-ups, data transfer and print jobs in a flash.

Quad-band GSM/EDGE and dual-band 3G capable Nokia E73 mobile phone’s other features  includes 3.5 mm audio jack, built-in GPS with A-GPS support and includes Nokia Maps 3.0, built-in Loudspeaker for integrated handsfree speaker, push to talk facility, voice commands and voice recording.

Onlt 127 gms in weight, the new Nokia E73 is powered by ARM 11 600 MHz processor and runs Nokia’s Symbian OS 9.3, Series 60 rel3.2 multi-user mobile operating and offers support for JAVA MIDP 2.1, Opera Mini and Opera 10 browsers for full html browsing, Flash lite 3.0 support and support for MS document viewers for Word, Excell, Powerpoint in addition to PDF files.

The Nokia E73 Smartphone allows integration to a wide range of corporate business email solutions including Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email and Mail for Exchange to communicate with Microsoft Exchange Server. It is also capable of integration with corporate telephony systems (PBX) through Nokia Mobile Unified Communications application solutions.

The Nokia E73 Mode comes pre-loaded with services and applications to make life easier, more fun and more efficient. With Ovi Maps, a turn-by-turn navigation solution from Nokia using the device’s built-in GPS at no additional cost, consumers can get from point A to B with voice-guided directions – even when walking.

Also pre-loaded on the device is the Ovi Store by Nokia, which provides access to thousands of compelling applications and games including “Shazam” and “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.” In addition, Ovi Store enables a simplified purchasing experience for consumers by allowing payment for content billed to their monthly T-Mobile bill or via credit card.

The new Nokia E73 Mode Smartphone also includes support for services such as IBM Lotus Traveler, support for and access to Salesforce.com, Bloomberg and more to help business customers bring their office with them while on the go.

The Nokia E73 Mode also comes pre-loaded with many business productivity tools allowing employees to take their office with them wherever they may be. With applications such as Ovi Files, QuickOffice, Adobe PDF Manager and ZIP Manager, files can be easily accessed, sent, viewed and edited right from the device, allowing customers to be more productive from nearly anywhere.

Applications offered includes Organizer involving Calculator, Calendar, Clock, Converter, Data Synchronization, File manager, Notepad, What time is it), and Tools that includes Connection manager, Device manager, Help, Landmarks, Personalization, Profiles, Settings, Speed dialling, Voice commands, Voice mail.

Available in a single Titanium black colors, the new Nokia E73 mobile phone comes with Li-Po 1500 mAh standard battery which offers upto 670 hours of standby time (2G) and upto 8 hours of talk time (2G) with full charge. There is no news about its price and availability in India market.
