Android Powered Dell Streak Tablet Device Coming Soon

Dell has announced that its eagerly awaited Dell Streak Tablet device that featuring 5-inch WVGA touchscreen display and is powered by Android OS would most likely go on sale in UK market starting June 2010 followed by a formal launch in US market.


The Dell Streak is a device designed for accessing entertainment, navigating your busy schedule and connecting you to the friends and family.

Originally known as Dell Mini 5, the Dell Streak is pitched in direct competition to Apple iPad, Norton’s Adam, Asus’s forthcoming Eee Pad and Eee Tabley and a dozen others tablet PCs slated to flood the markets during this year.

The Dell Streak Tablet device offers a ton of flexibility while looking cool in the process. The Dell Streak brings together a great web browsing experience, multi-tasking capability, slick turn by turn navigation and a great way to enjoy your photos, movies and music into a sleek device that’s built for mobility.

Dell Streak is powered by a 1 GHz Snapdragon ARM-based Processor from Qualcomm with Snapdragon chipset mainboard running latest version of Google Android 2.2 (FroYo) OS for mobile and Tablet devices with support for Adobe Flash 10.1.

In addition, the Dell Streak Tablet features a large 5-inch multi-touch WVGA 800 x 480 pixels color display made with Gorilla-Glass technology making it a pretty big durability as against more fragile mobile devices and comes with 2-GB of internal memory and offers microSD memory card supporting maximum 32-GB expandable memory.

Only 10 mm thick, the Dell Streak Tablet also features UMTS/GPRS/EDGE Class 12 network connection, integrated Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n wireless networking capability, 3G HSDPA 7.2 Mbps speed connection, Bluetooth 2.1 and microUSB port connecivity and also offer all kinds of Dell Streak accessories like a car dock kit, battery replacements, a home AV dock and more.

The Bluetooth v2.1 wireless connection in Dell Streak Tablet allows connection to all sorts of bluetooth enabled devices/accessories like headsets, external keyboards, stereo headsets, etc.

The phone also include powerful 5.0 Megapixel auto-focus digital camera with built-in LED flash and digital zoom that offers easy point & shoot capability and quick uploads to YouTube, Flickr and Facebook accounts and more.

The Dell Streak Tablet device also features a secondary VGA front-facing camera that enables video chat functionality down the road over 3G network.

The phone includes user-removable (and replaceable) rechargeable battery and is equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack for choice of headphone connection.

The Dell Streak runs a customized multi-touch version of the Google Android operating system version 2.2 that features Dell user interface enhancements and offers access to over 38,000  apps via the Android Marketplace.

The device comes loaded with Google Maps with voice-activated search, turn-by-turn navigation, street and satellite views.

It also offers Quick access to activity streams via integrated social network app widgets like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and many other social networking sites.

The Dell Streal Tablet device is expected to be available in US market from AT&T on 13th August 2010  and would cost $299.99 (Rs. 14,000 approx) with a new two-year AT&T contract or $549.99 (Rs. 25,600 approx.) without contract.
