Nokia X3 Entry-Level Affordable Music Phone Launched, Features Slide-up Keypad & Dedicated Music Keys

Nokia has announced in India its entry-level X-series music phone, the Nokia X3 Mobile Phone which is a music-centric multimedia non-touch screen phone that features dedicated music keys, built-in stereo speakers and slide-out keyboard.

Originally announced in September 2009, the Nokia X3 phone is company’s second X-series offering this year, after earlier announced Nokia X2 Music Phone which is expected to be launched first in India in coming June 2010. The slide-up style Nokia X3 Music Phone has 2.2-inch 240 x 320 pixels 256K color capable QVGA display and it also offers direct access to Facebook from the homescreen and comes with Nokia Messaging application for email and Instant Messaging.

Nokia X3 music phone includes 48-MB internal memory and and comes equipped with microSD card slot offering 16-GB expandable memory allowing 1000 entries phone book. 2-GB card in included in the package.

These are three dedicated music control buttons for forward, rewind, and play/pause allowing users to operate the music player playing in the background. Located around the sides are routine camera key and volume buttons in addition to a MicroSD card slot, covered by a fairly tight plastic bung just like all Nokia 5x series phone and there is a standard 3.5mm headphone socket right on top of the phone, next to a microUSB data connector (on the left) and thin-pin charger socket (on the right side).

The Nokia X3 music phone’s user interface is based on Nokia Symbian Series S40 which is uncomplicated and straightforward to operate.  The user interface offers usual grid type main menu, which drills down into basic sub-menu option lists, something so very familiar to any Nokia user.

For data connectivity, Nokia X3 phone offers GPRS class 32, EDGE class 32 connection with upto 296 kbps speed, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and is equipped with microUSB 2.0 port for wired connectivity. Like Nokia 5233 music phone, there is NO support for 3G network, WiFi wireless networking or built-in GPS in this handset enabling Nokia to retail the device at attractive price of Rs. 7,500/.

Only 14 mm thick, the new Nokia X3 phone weighs only 103 gms and it also sport a single 3.2 megapixel enhanced fixed focus camera offering 2048 x 1536 pixels still picture resolution, featuring built-in LED flash and video recording capabilities in QCIF at 15 fps.

Other features of Nokia X3 Music phone includes 3.5 mm audio port, dedicate music control keys on front side of the device, FM Radio with RDS, built-in FM antenna (no need to connect headphone), integrated dual stereo speakers, dedicated music keys and audio media player supporting MP3/WMA/eAAC+ files and video player supporting MP4/H.263 files. Music can be managed using the Ovi Player PC client or Windows Media Player 11.

Nokia X3 handset comes preloaded with Opera Mini browser as well as Nokia’s own-brand browser and includes WAP 2.0/xHTML browser, JAVA MIDP 2.1 support with downloadable games and applications, organizer (file manager, document viewers etc), Voice memo and support form Flash Lite 3.0 allowing streaming of Flash contents from sites like YouTube etc.

The Nokia X3 also comes preloaded with bookmarks for a selection of social networking services, that includes Facebook, MySpace and YouTube. Also included is a dedicated Flickr application that takes users to the Flickr mobile site, allowing users to view, upload and manage Flickr image accounts online.

The Nokia X3 comes loaded with Nokia Messaging Mail email client, that allows setting up email for a new Ovi Mail account or from an existing POP3/IMAP4 email account including Gmail, Yahoo mail, Hotmail etc.  It also comes loaded with settings for several IM services, including Windows Live Hotmail, Google Mail and Yahoo! Mail.

Available in Blue on Silver and Red on Black colors, the new Nokia X3 music phone comes with 860mAh Li-Ion battery that offers 8 hours of talk time and 200 hrs of stand-by time and would be available soon for Rs.  7,500 only with one year warranty.
