Android Eclair 2.1 Powered HTC Legend Smartphone Launched in India

HTC has finally launched in India its new HTC Legend Smartphone that runs Google latest Android Eclair 2.1 mobile operating system and features an enhanced HTC Sense user interface that includes a new newsreader application and widget.

Announced early this year at Mobile World Congress, BARCELONA, the HTC Legend Smartphone boasts a unique design with a smooth, continuous surface, machined from a single aluminum block into a seamless compact frame and is powered by Android Eclair 2.1 mobile operating system and features newly enhanced HTC Sense user interface with exciting new features.

The HTC Sense user interface revolves around three fundamental principles that were developed by HTC viz. Make It Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected which continue to be the key to the new HTC Sense user interface build in HTC Legend Smartphone.

The enhanced HTC Sense introduces a new HTC application and widget called HTC Friend Stream which seamlessly integrate all of user’s social communication including Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr into one organised flow of updates, making it easier than ever to focus on what friends are doing as well as to view the images and links that they share.

The enhanced HTC Sense user interface also introduces broad improvements to applications including the browser, email client, IMs and others and includes a new newsreader application and widget, as well as a new seven-screen ‘Leap’ thumbnail view for quick and easy access to specific screens.

The HTC Legend Smartphone is equipped with 600 MHz Qualcomm MSN 7227 Processor and it comes with 512-MB ROM and 384-MB RAM internal memory with microSD card support of upto 32-GB expandable memory and features a 3.2 inch, 320 x 480 pixels 16M color capable AMOLED HVGA hi-resolution LED backlit display with multi-touch support.  In addition, a brand new optical joystick, surrounded by a narrow button replaces the traditional trackball improving usability without interrupting its unique design.

Weighing only 126 gms, the HTC Legend Smartphone measures 112 x 56.3 x 11.5 mm and also sports a 5.0 Megapixel camera with built-in LED flash offering 2592 x 1944 pixel still picture resolution, Geo-tagging, and video recording capability and is equipped with Proximity sensor, Accelerometer for auto-rotate, and Digital Compass.

Quad-band GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz network and 3G 900/1200 MHz network ready HTC Legend Smartphone offers exhaustive data connectivity options including GPRS class 10, EDGE class 10, 3G HSDPA 7.2 Mbps connection, HSUPA 2.0 Mbps connection in addition to WiFi 802.11b/g wireless LAN and Bluetooth 2.1 + A2DP wireless connectivity with FTP and OPP transfer capabilities.

In addition, device sports microUSB 2.0 port for wired connectivity and includes internal GPS receiver with A-GPS support, Stereo FM radio with RDS and a 3.5mm audio headphone jack allowing users plug-in their choice of standard headphone.

Other features of HTC Legend includes dedicated search key, audio media player supporting MP3, eAAC+, WAV files, video player supporting MP4, H.263, H.264 and 3GP files, and applications includes Organizer, Voice Memo, Document viewers including PDF, Google search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Facebook, Google Talk and many Android applications.

The HTC Legend Smartphone comes with powerful 1300 mAh Li-Ion battery that can provide upto 7 hours of talk time in 2G (6 hrs in 3G) network and 440 hours of stand-by time (2G) and is already available in India for Rs. 25,900 with one year warranty.
