RIM Launches BlackBerry STORM2 9520 Smartphone in India Having Full Touchscreen Display

RIM has launched today its new Blackberry Storm2 9520 Smartphone in India, which is its second Blackberry Smartphone after Blackberry Storm 9530 Smartphone with full touchscreen display and the phone is packed with a wide range of multimedia and communication features like messaging, email and document editing.


Weighing 160 gms, the BlackBerry Storm2 9520 is available for Rs. 31,990 from leading large format retail stores as well as from operators in India including Airtel, Vodaphone, Aircel, MTNL, BSNL, BPL/Loop Mobile, Idea Cellular, Reliance, and Tata mobile etc.

Originally announced in October 2009 in US and Europe markets, the quad-band GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz network and 3G HSDPA 2100 MHz network ready Blackberry Storm2 9520 Smartphone sports a stylish design has a large 3.25-inch 360 x 480 pixels 65K colors capable TFT capacitive full touchscreen display with SurePress technology and it is equipped with, for the first time seen in any BlackBerry Storm series phones, Accelerometer sensor for auto screen rotation.

The Capacitive touchscreen technology in BlackBerry Storm2 9520 allows the phone to detects the electricity from user’s fingers, and being equipped with transflective display allows it to be easily view outdoors in bright light.

The BlackBerry Storm2 9520 smartphone is equipped with all new touch-sensitive trackpad instead of traditional trackball and it comes with a full HTML web browser and several social networking appls for Facebook, Myspace, and Flickr. Since new touchpad involves no moving parts, the phone is expected to be more robust and last long.

The trackpad employs all the same gestures as the conventional trackball, besides feels similar to using a trackpad on a laptop. To select an option, one can click the pad just like one would with the conventional trackball.

The Blackberry Storm2 9520 Smartphone features dedicated buttons for Camera, Volume, and a programmable multifunction functions, on the side of the handset. On top of panel are Mute and lock buttons and phone’s metal back packs the hi-quality speakerphone and the actual camera hardware.

The 3G BlackBerry Storm2 9520 mobile phone also offers wireless Bluetooth v2.0 connection with A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) option. The Bluetooth v2.0 with Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) allows listening to music on bluetooth compatible headset like 3.5mm HSP headset absolutely wire-free and in full stereo.


The Storm2 smartphone is also equipped with standard fast USB v2.0 port (miniUSB port) which is used for both power recharging and PC connectivity for data exchange.

The BlackBerry Storm2 9520 Smartphone is also equipped with built-in GPS with A-GPS support, and a 3.15 megapixel camera with 2048 x 1536 pixels still picture resolution along with Auto focus, 2X digital zoom, flash and video recording capabilities. The camera also offers Geo-tagging and image stabilization for blur free shots. The smartphone also supports BlackBerry App World which features a catalog of mobile applications.

The included media player in BlackBerry Storm2 9520 Smartphones is a full featured media player that allows playing video and audio files. Audio media files supports AAC-LC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR-NB, WMA9 (.wma/.asf), WMA9 PRO/WMA 10, and AAC-LC and Video format supports MP4/MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV3 files and file transfer is fairly fast using USB v2.0 interface.
