HP Launches HP EliteBook 2740p Tablet PC; Powered by Core i5/i7 Processor

HP has launched HP EliteBook 2740p Tablet PC that is a ultra-portable powered by Intel Core i5 or i7 processor and features 12-inch foldable display.


The ultra-portable HP EliteBook 2740p tablet PC boasts of anodized-aluminum metal with platinum finish design which makes it ideal computing device for business rugged road warriors professionals on the go. It features a rotating hinge on which is a 12-inch display attached that is totally foldable like flat slate.

The the new rugged EliteBook 2740p Tablet is HP’s first touchscreen-enabled Tablet PC convertible for business users that also meets military standards for high temperatures, dust, vibration and altitude besides featuring a built-in HP DriveGuard technology to provide enhanced protection to hard drive from impacts.

The HP EliteBook 2740p Tablet PC comes with the choice of Intel Core i7-720QM Processor (1.66 GHz, 6 MB L3 cache), Intel Core i7-620M Processor (2.66 GHz, 4 MB L3 cache), Intel Core i5-540M Processor (2.53 GHz, 3 MB L3 cache) or Intel Core i5-520M Processor (2.40 GHz, 3 MB L3 cache) and offers upto 8GB of DDR3 SDRAM, and a 320 GB 7200 rpm SATA II hard drive.

The ultra-portable EliteBook 2740p Tablet PC also features dual pointing devices; one pointing stick with two pairs of rubbery mouse buttons, and a standard multi-touch touchpad.

The HP EliteBook 2740p includes 12.1-inch diagonal LED-backlit HD+ anti-glare display with capacitive touch functionality powered by integrated Intel GMA HD Graphics with shared video memory and also features hi-res 2 megapixel webcam and comes loaded with software that allows scanning and reading business cards.

The 12.1-inch display can be folded back onto the laptop’s body to create a tablet form factor, and the touchscreen capable display also supports multitouch gestures, finger taps, and swipes. The device also includes a tethered pen for writing and drawing directly onto the touchscreen capable display.

Connectivity options includes integrated Intel Gigabit Network 10/100/1000 Ethernet card, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/N(draft) network connection, Bluetooth 2.1 connection and some other features of HP EliteBook 2740p tablet includes a Express Card/54 slot, built-in media card reader, and is equipped with High definition audio with integrated stereo speakers, integrated dual-microphone array, Stereo headphone/line out port and a Stereo microphone/line in port connection, an optional docking station (HP 2740 Ultra-Slim Expansion Base) that provides a built-in DVD dual-layer optical drive, a eSATA power port, additional USB 2.0 ports and VGA Display Port connections.

The EliteBook 2740p ultra-portable Tablet PC comes with 6-cell 6-cell (51 WHr) Li-Ion Prismatic battery that is claimed to provide upto 5 hours of power and also offers optional battery life solutions to collectively provide upto 11 hours of backup.

The Tablet PC also comes with HP Power Assistant software that lets user take control of notebook PCs reported power consumption allowing conserve power, stretch battery run-time, accurately monitor reported power needs and report workforce power consumption.

HP has not yet announced EliteBook 2740p Tablet prices and availability in India.
