MSI Announces GT660 Gaming Notebook With Intel Quad Core-i7 and NVIDIA GeForce Graphics

Just ahead of CeBIT tradeshow to be held in March in Hanover, MSI has unveiled its new MSI GT660 Gaming Notebook PC that is powered by Intel Quad Core i7 Processors and features NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285M Graphics.


Having earned the Germany’s iF Product Design Award for 2010, the design world’s equivalent of an Oscar, the MSI GT660 gaming notebook features MSI’s glowing white logo that is set in the center of the GT660’s cover which itself resembles a sports car hood with raised a black diamond trident above a glowing red slash.

Both side around the ebony exterior are other strategically placed ruby red LED lights that smolder to the sounds emitted by the laptop. In addition, MSI’s exclusive hip color film print coating accentuates the GT660’s riveting sports car exterior.

Design details, like the rhombic pattern on the wrist rest areas and high tech brush finish on the touchpad, add class and texture and underscore the GT660’s awesome presence.

The lightweight MSI GT660 Gaming Notebook  comes powered by Intel 2010 series Quad Core- i7 Processor with Intel PM55 chipset mainboard featuring 3MB L2 cache and it comes with upto 12-GB DDR3 1066 MHz RAM in 3 slots along with offering dual 500GB SATA HDD in RAID 0 mode for a total of 1-TB internal hard drive capacity.

The MSI GT660 features three DDR3 memory slots allowing the gaming notebook the kind of computing power only available on high-end servers and featues USB 3.0 ports that can reach transfer rates of 4.8GB per second, 10 times the bandwidth of the current USB 2.0.

The MSI GT660 gaming notebook is the world’s first notebook to come with dual overclocking for processor and display performance. It features Turbo hotkey that kicks in MSI’s exclusive TDE+ technology (Turbo Drive Engine + technology) enabling the notebook to remains highly responsive whether using high-load applications or gaming. In addition, MSI’s Cooler Boost technology keeps the system’s temperature down in even the hottest conditions.

The new MSI GT660 Gaming notebook features a unspecified sized WSVGA LED backlite HD display which is powered by NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285M Graphics - NVIDIA’s fastest notebook GPU for extreme gaming hardware – with 1-GB DDR3 dedicated video memory.

Weighing 3.5 kgs with 9-cell battery, the MSI GT660 notebook includes D-sub VGA, three USB 2.0 ports, e-SATA/USB combo port, 1394, Mic-in, Headphone out,  RJ-45/RJ-11, 2 Megapixel Webcam and theater class 4 speakers + 1 subwoofer system for high quality audio.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285M GPU deliver blistering fast framerates for the most intense gaming experience and features CUDA technology that accelerate the most demanding system tasks – such as video transcoding – delivering incredible performance improvements over traditional CPUs. It also offers PhysX gaming effects, stereoscopic 3D, and lightning fast video and image processing all accelerated by the GPU.

Though not much details are disclosed by MSI at this point of time, the MSI GT660 is believed to also feature WiFi 802.11b/g/N connection with 300 Mbps speed, couple of USB 3.0 ports offering blistering 4.8 GB/sec data transfer speed HDMI digital out port in addition to standard VGA video port. Besides, the Gaming notebook is also equipped with built-in high-end sound capabilities.


With the Intel Core i7 processor under the hood, MSI’s GT660 gaming notebook not only hums like a well-tuned sports car, its body is graced with cool lines and it comes equipped with high-fidelity surround sound from world-class sound system designer Dynaudio.

Other rich multimedia features of MSI GT660 gaming notebook includes 7.1 channel output with SRS qualification, a subwoofer, Cinema Pro technology, and HDMI output.

There is no word on a price or availability, but MSI has promising to disclose more about GT660 and the rest of its new Gaming notebooks at CeBIT coming up in March 2010.

Update: The MSI GT660 gaming laptop is officially launched in India on 25th June 2010 and is now available in India for starting price of Rs. 1,24,900/- with one year warranty.
