Hyderabad, India based Notion Ink has announced a new ADAM Tablet PC that is powered by Android OS and has 10 inch transflective LCD display besides packed with features that can pose some challenge to Apple’s iPad Tablet PC.
Announced at the Mobile world congress 2010, in Barecelona, the ADAM tablet measures 158 x 239 x 13 mm and weighing 600 gms is based on Nvidia Tegra 2 platform and powered by Dual-Core ARM CORTEX A9 MPCORE Processor running at 1-GHz speed and features 16Gb or 32GB eMMC storage. The Tablet PC is capable of supporting multiple open source OS including Google Android, Ubunty Linux and Chromium among others.
The Notion Ink ADAM Tablet features the 10.1-inch LCD Pixel Qi transflective WSVGA display, with a resolution of 1024 x 600, powered by ULP graphics solution with shared video memory and it features Capacitive touch panel technology with multi-touch offering Matt finish/ Anti glare Coating and Scratch resistant and Finger print resistant surface.
The display technology in Adam integrated many innovations first
Used first time in ‘one laptop per child’ (OLPC) project, the 10.1-inch PixelQI display in ADAM Tablet, unlike traditional TFT display, offers dual mode, and can be read in bright sunlight using Transflective technology with backlight.
The Ultra Low Power Nvidia Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) integrated in the Nvidia Tegra 2 chip, allows full flash acceleration, and next generation 3D rendering performance for most compelling UI and games.
The Notion Ink ADAM Tablet also features HDMI digital out port and 3 USB 2.0 ports, and unlike the Apple iPad Tablet which only supports 576p or 480p video, the ADAM offer support for full HD upto 1080p video encode/decode support along with HD web streaming.
It also includes a 3.2-megapixel autofocusing camera capable of 180 degree Swivel allowing still photography and video recoding in full 1080p HD format and Notion Ink ADAM tablet also features two built-in speakers, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and built-in microphone.
Offering dual display support, the ADAM Tablet also includes microSD slot for expandable memory, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, 3-Axis Accelerometers, Ambient light sensors, and GPS with A-GPS with Google Maps.
Powered by 3-cell standard battery, the ADAM tablet with nVidia’s Tegra 2 chip and a PixelQi screen in combination results in twice the battery life and performance of the Apple iPad Tablet PC. The ADAM offers upto 140 hours of audio play and over 16 hours of HD video playback or 160 hours of general usage if the backlight is kept off.
Totally Made in India, ADAM Tablet PC offers support for major e-Books formats in addition to allowing Applications, Videos, Movies, and Songs for business and entertainment.
Notion Ink ADAM Tablet is expected to be available in June or July with a starting price of Rs. 16,000 onwards for basic model.
