Opera, after scores of Beta followed by a Release Candidate (RC) of its web browser just a week back, has finally released its fully functional latest version Opera 10 which is now ready for download simultaneously for Windows, Mac and Linux platforms.
The latest version.10 of the Opera browser comes included with the the browser’s most publicized compression engine called Opera Turbo processing engine designed to improve load times and fast surfing on lousy slow internet connections.
Opera is claiming that Opera Turbo enables Opera v.10 browser to be up to 40% faster than its earlier Opera 9.6 version and upto 8 times faster compared to other latest browsers.
Opera Turbo automatically detects the connection speed and once turned on, Opera Turbo instantly starts compressing webpages so that less data needs to be transferred over a limited speed of network connection.
“Opera Turbo is our newest innovation, and one we think everyone should try, because we all will face a slow connection at some point,” said Jon von Tetzchner, Opera’s CEO.
The new release 10 of Opera also has a number of bug fixes, usability and other standard enhancements, a new automatic software updates (like in Firefox 3x), a built-in spell checker for 51 languages and an improved and refined Opera Mail client that allows threading e-mail conversations like Goole Gmail.
The refreshed user interface now offers the new default skin and changes to tab bar behavior. The tabs now also behaves as thumbnail images. Double-clicking the thin gray bar below the tabs now allows expanding the current tabs into preview windows that can be navigate by clicking among them, something which is now common feature in Windows Explorer and Firefox. In addition, the tab bar itself can be resized by pulling down on it or double-clicking the handle.
Another enhancement include an expanded Speed Dial feature that now shows more often visited Webpages, like Google Crome and moreover, it can be customize with a choice of background picture.
For web developers, a new version of Opera Dragonfly (set of on-board, Web-development tools) that now allows them to edit the DOM and inspect HTTP headers.
