Sony Ericsson R300 Radio Phone

Launched in India in late Aug 2008 along with Sony Ericsson R306 Radio Phone, the Sony Ericsson R300 Radio mobile phone is designed to deliver radio listening experience places the first combined AM/FM radio experience at the heart of the mobile phone and it features 65K color display, VGA digital camera, and Bluetooth connection.

Sony Ericsson R300 Radio is targetted at entry-level Radio lover users and is perhaps Sony’s cheapest mobile phone offering in India.

True radio experience

The Sony Ericsson R300 Radio phone opens up into a clamshell with two integrated stereo speakers facing front. There is a dedicated Audio Enhancer key which allows to activate volume boost when listening to the radio through the speakers or 3D sound enhancement when listing using stereo headset ensuring high-quality noise-free radio listening experience even when surrounded by noisy environment. Current tuned-in is displayed on to the phone’s external display.

Dedicated preset buttons features on the front of Sony Ericsson R300 Radio phone let one switch easily between your favourite stations. It takes just one click to boost the volume when you want to share music on the radio or the live action from the sports ground. It even allows recording a clip of a song and use it as your ringtone.

Sony Ericsson R300 Radio phone sports a TrackID feature allowing recording a clip of a song from an external source, such as a sound system in a coffee shop or bar, and find out within seconds who sang it, the name of the track and which album it is from.

Sony Ericsson R300 phone like Sony Ericsson R306, is equipped with performance speaker integrated into the phone allowing to play Radio through them The Radio can also be played-in via the stereo headphones. Switch on 3D sound enhancement or volume boost with the dedicated Audio Enhancer key on the phone.

Sony Ericsson R300 Radio handset allows handling incoming phone calls handsfree with optional accessories such as the Bluetooth Headset HBH-PV703.

Equipped with 8-MB internal shared memory, the Sony Ericsson R300 Radio handset offers upto 1000 entries phonebook with Photo call feature and support Polyphonic ringtones including MP3 and AAC format songs as ringtones. Handset does not support any expandable memory card slot.

Sony Ericsson R300 Radio mobile phone also features a 0.3 Megapixel VGA resolution fixed focus digital camera offering upto 640 x 480 pixels resolution. The digital camera is also capable of video recording and playback in QCIF format.

Sony Ericsson R300 is available in two colors, viz. Antique Black and Steel Black and handset is little bigger (but slimmer) and lighter than R306 Radio phone measuring 101 x 46 x 12 mm and weighing just 75 grams.

For connectivity, Sony Ericsson R300 Radio offers GPRS Class 10 (upto 48 kbps) and Bluetooth v2.0 connection. The handset also features USB v2.0 port for wired connection allowing the user to connect to compatible devices for data transfer.

Other features of Sony Ericsson R300 Radio mobile phone includes WAP 2.0/xHTML, Browser, Picture messaging (MMS), Voice Memo, handsfree Speakerphone, Java MIDP 2.0 support, picture viewer/browser and picture editor application.

The Sony Ericsson R300 Radio phone has a sampler music tool viz. MusicDJ which allows the user to create a polyphonic ringing tone using a combination of drum, guitar, keyboard, bass & brass sounds.

Weighing about 75 grams, the Sony Ericsson R306 comes with standard Li-Pon 930 mAh (BST-38) battery offering upto 400 hrs of stand by time and up to 9 hrs of talk time on full charge. It offers upto 27 hours of radio listening time.
