Nokia N97 Smartphone Launched

Nokia has announced the launch of its new 3G network ready Nokia N97 SmartPhone, which is a quad-band GSM Phone features 3.5-inch 16-million colors display, full QWERTY glide-out keyboard, 32-GB of internal shared internal memory with microSD Card, 5.0 MP Digital Camera, Real Media Player, FM Tuner, Bluetooth with A2DP, WiFi 802.11 b/g wireless LAN connection, built-in GPS receiver with Nokia Maps and ultrafast HSCSD wireless connection and EDGE connectivity options.

The quad-band GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz, 3G HSDPA 1900, 2100 and 900 MHz and EDGE network along with HSCSD (High-Speed Circuit-Switched Data) network ready Nokia N97 mobilephone has 360 x 640 pixels, 3.5 inches, 16 Million colours TFT display. The display is capable of handwriting recognition and it sports full QWERTY keyboard.

Its 16:9 widescreen display can be personalized with frequently updated widgets of favorite web services and social networking sites.

Nokia claims that new N97 touchscreen Smartphone is “the world’s most advanced mobile computer” and would propel new innovative mobile services which will transform the way people connect to the internet on the move.

The Nokia N97 smartphone is equipped with 264 MHz Dual ARM 9 Processor and it features Symbian OS S60 release 5 operating software and is being boasted to be most powerful multi-sensory mobile computer.

Nokia N97 sports a mini-computer design. Its screen tilts to a 35 degree angle when the full QWERTY keyboard glides out, making it easier to see the screen while typing.

Designed for Internet savvy users, the Nokia N97 smartphone comes with a massive 32-GB internal memory along with 128 MB of SDRAM and it supports microSD memory card with up to 16-GB maximum memory storage allowing a total of 48-GB memory . The main internal storage memory allows storage of unlimited phone numbers and handset also offers upto 30 days of dialed, received, and missed calls records.

The massive 48-GB (32+16) internal memory of the Nokia N97 smartphone is capable of storing up to 36000 standard compressed songs, up to 30,000 hi-res still images of full 5 megapixel (2592 x 1944 pixels), or up to 90 hours of medium compressed videos or 35 full length movies.

The new Nokia N97 smartphone also comes preloaded with Wave Secure software – a Symbian S60 release 5 OS unique security application which allows users to not only track their handset in case it is lost or stolen, but also allows wiping clean the data remotely from the device to prevent misuse, allowing remotely locking the device and track SIM card replacement in an event the device is stolen or lost. The Wave Secure application also allows users to create a complete backup for the data in phone via the Internet.

Nokia N97 also allows effortless updating to social networks with real-time information, providing users the ability to update their online status and share their social-location in addition to related pictures, videos and other contents.

The Nokia N97 mobilephone features every possible options for data connection including GPRS Class 32 with upto 107 kbps speed connection, HSCDS (High speed Cable Data Service connection), EDGE Class 32 with upto 296kbps speed connection, 3G HSDPA network connection with upto 3.6 Mbps data speed, WiFi 802.11 b/g wireless LAN connection with UPnP technology and wireless Bluetooth v2.0 connection with A2DP.

Sporting full QWERTY keyboard, the new Nokia N97 mobile phone offers advanced 5.0 Megapixel digital camera having Carl Zeiss optics with maximum resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels and upto 20x digital zoom option. The digital camera also sports integrated flash ( 2 LED system) with automatic on/off feature and has autofocus feature.

The supported still image formats includes JPEG, JPEG2000, EXIF 2.2, GIF 87/89, PNG, BMP (W-BMP), MBM, and SVG . A second VGA resolution camera having 640 x 480 pixels resolution allows video calling.

In addition, Nokia N97 mobilephone allows DVD-like quality video recording in VGA format (640 x 480 pixels) in 30 fps, CIF format in 352 x 288 pixels, QCIF format in 176 x 144 pixels or SubQCIF: 128 x 96 pixels resolution in 15 frames per second (fps). The captured video can also be edited on the mobile phone itself.

The Nokia N97 mobilephone also sports built-in GPS receiver with integrated Assisted Global Positioning System (A-GPS) that links to both satellites and local networks for navigation and it comes with pre-installed Nokia Maps v2.0 application and free downloadable maps of over 100 countries. The Nokia Map v2.0 software includes maps of 8 Indian cities with 52 categories of points of interest allowing users access places, travel destinations, bars/cafes/restaurants and hotel locations for local usage. The handset also offers a unique feature viz location tagger that allows users automatically tag location details with pictures (like date and time etc) along with the geographical coordinates data.

Nokia N97 features a souped up version of Nokia Maps v2.0, which includes terrain and satellite maps, allowing users to plan their journey on their PC and then synchronize the same to their N97 handset. Using internal GPS sensor, the Nokia N97 can also suggest the best route and help avoid traffic jams.

Nokia N97 also feature another new Nokia “Point and Find” Service. By using both the phone’s camera and its inbuilt virtual compass and GPS, Point and Find allows users to point N97 at a landmark and immediately receive information about it from the internet.

Nokia N97 is PictBridge ready allowing transfer photos directly to compatible printer or kiosk via integrated Bluetooth wireless connection, memory card or directly to PictBridge compliant printer via USB cable. The new Nokia N97 smartphone also sports integrated Media Player from Real Media which supports most of the popular audio formats including WMA, MP3, eAAC+, AAC+, AAC, M4A, AMR-NB, AMR-WB, 64 polyphonic MIDI, RealAudio Voice, RealAudio v7, RealAudio v8, and RealAudio v10.
