Acer has announced the launch of Acer Aspire One sub-notebook PC, Acer’s first mobile Internet device (NetBook) for the Indian market, which is powered by Intel Atom N270 Processor and it features 8.9-inch display, integrated WiFi 802.11b/g wireless LAN connection, integrated 1.3 MP webcam, built-in 5-in-1 SDHC and multi-format media card reader slot, and 8-GB solid state hard drive.
The Acer Aspire One ultra-portable laptop is designed as low-cost, Internet-centric mobile computing devices also called ‘netBook‘ which is powered by 1.6 GHz ultra low voltage Intel Atom N270 Processor with 512-MB L2 Cache, 533 MHz FSB, and it features Intel Mobile Intel 945 GSE express chipset mainboard, 512-MB of DDR2 533 MHz SDRAM – upgradeable to maximum of 1-GB using two soDIMM modules, and 8-GB solid state hard drive (Flash drive).
The Acer Aspire One Netbook also offers option for connecting a standard 2.5-inch notebook hard drive internally.
Acer Aspire One netBook PC is claimed to be an all-new communication device designed to provide a true mobile and wireless experience through continuous access to the Internet irrespective of the user’s location.
The new Intel Atom processor uses a brand new design structure that packs in 47 million transistors into a single chip sized at just 22mm (0.87 inches), and the processor uses just 2.5 watts of power which is less than 1/10th of the 35 watts used by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor.
The 1.6 GHz Atom processor in Acer Aspire One netBook also includes a power-optimized front side bus of 533 MHz for faster data transfer on demanding mobile applications and a 512 KB L2 cache (which temporarily stores data).

The solid state flash hard drive in Acer Aspire One has several advantages over “old fashioned” hard disk drives its read and write speeds parameters are extremely slow, almost crippling the system over Windows XP or Vista. This is perhaps a reason Acer is offering standard configuration with Linux OS. The solid state flash drive works perfectly well with the Lipnus version of Linux which comes with standard system.
