Lenovo has started offering its new Y-Series Notebook PC in India, the Lenovo 3000 Y500 featuring Lenovoï¿½s unique biometric face recognition technology for enhances data security and sports 6x DVD burner, Dolby Home Theater system, TV Tuner with remote and integrated 1.3 megapixel camera.
Based on 1.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T5200 Processor (533 Mhz, 2MB L2 Cache), thin-and-light Lenovo 3000 Y500 notebook PC weighs about 1.78 kg without battery pack (2.7 Kgs with battery pack) and it offers Intel 945 Express chipset, 1-GB RAM, 100 GB Serial-ATA 5400 rpm 2.5 inch harddisk, Super multi drive 6x DVD Writer with double layer recording (8.5 GB) and integrated 1.3 megapixel digital camera.
The notebook is equipped with 15.4-inch (39.1 cm) wide screen WXGA display powered by Intel Graphics Media Accelerator GMA 950 video graphics that offers native resolution of 1280 x 800 in 16:10 aspect ratio

The face recognition technology recognizes multiple users and logs on to the Windows operating system and other applications without requiring users to remember and type a single password. In the event of an unauthorized attempt, the notebook photographs the user and stores the image in a log for verification.
Biometric Security Capable Lenovo Y500 notebook also offers Lenovo’s One-Touch-System-Recovery feature and it comes with various software preinstalled such as Shuttle Centre, Power 2 GO, Veriface, Easy Capture 2.5, IGRS Anywhere and Norton 2006 antivirus software.
