Lenovo Y300 Notebook PC

Lenovo has launched its new Y-Series Notebook PCs in India, the Lenovo 3000 Y300 and Lenovo 3000 Y500, both featuring Lenovo’s unique biometric face recognition technology for enhances data security.

Based on Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 processor (1.66GHz, 1-GB RAM), thin-and-light Lenovo 3000 Y300 notebook PC weighs about 1.78 kg without battery pack (2.2 Kgs with battery pack) and it offers integrated slot-in optical disc drive and 13.1-inch wide screen display, discrete Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 graphics card and integrated 1.3 megapixel digital camera.

Lenovo Y500

The Lenovo 3000 Y500 notebook PC is also powered by 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo T5500 processor and it features integrated Dolby Home Theater system, integrated slot-in optical disc drive and 15.4-inch wide screen display with integrated 1.3 megapixel digital camera. In addition, the Lenovo Y500 notebook PC also sports an integrated TV Tuner card with remote control.

The Shuttle Center system in notebooks is an audio and video entertainment platform which allows easy navigation between menus without a mouse. It allows easy access to music and video files, with discrete playback controls makes it as easy to listen to your tunes as well as peek at your movies.

In addition, the integrated Touch Pad features a wider touch pad area which provides two modes to avoid the incident touching of Touch Pad when using a mouse.

Face Recognition

The face recognition feature available in both Lenovo Y300 and Y500 notebook PCs is a specialize software (from Veriface software) which takes a digital snapshot of the user’s face to create a unique password by digital mapping of key features of the user s face.

The face recognition technology recognizes multiple users and logs on to the Windows operating system and other applications without requiring users to remember and type a single password. In the event of an unauthorized attempt, the notebook photographs the user and stores the image in a log for verification.

The new Lenovo 3000 Y300 is available in India for about Rs 61,990 (plus taxes) with warranty and the Lenovo 3000 Y500 is priced between Rs 31,990 and Rs 69,990 (plus taxes) based on various configurations.
