Dell Launched Latitude D420 Notebook PC

Dell has announced today the launch of its Latitude D420, the lightest Latitude D-family notebook PC, powered by Intel Core Solo processors, and weighing under 1.36 kg with mammoth 7 hours of battery life.

dell-latitude-d420-laptopAccording to company, the new Dell Latitude D420 notebook PC is the right amalgamation of style, functionality and mobility and is fully compatible with legacy D-family docking options, power supplies and peripherals, which may help businesses leverage existing equipment investments.

Powered by Intel Core Solo U1300 (1.06GHz, 533Mhz) processor the basic model of Dell Latitude D420 notebook PC features 512MB, DDR2-533 SDRAM, 30-GB 8MM, 4200 rpm hard drive and D-Bay plus 24X CD-ROM optical drive. The notebook comes with preinstalled Microsoft Genuine Windows XP Home Edition, SP2, with media.

A lightweight designed, new Dell Latitude D420 notebook PC is power packed with advanced security features such as Trusted Platform Module (TPM) enterprise security technology and user can also opt for the biometric fingerprint reader technology for enhanced security.

Users can choose to add an optional MediaBase that can be attached at the bottom of the system to include their choice of optical drive. Like the Dell Latitude D420 notebook PC, the newly redesigned MediaBase is thinner and lightweight than the previous generation, and constructed of durable magnesium alloy.

According to Rajan Anandan, vice president and general manager Dell India – sales and marketing, “The Latitude D420 combines the sleek travel-friendly form factor of the Latitude X1 with the compatibility benefits and durability of the Latitude D410 and initial customer response has been extremely enthusiastic.”

The Dell Latitude D420 notebook PC comes with a 12.1-inch widescreen LCD display, award winning full-sized keyboard and dual pointing/mouse modules. For wireless connectivity, the Latitude D420 notebook PC can be configured with either Wi-Fi 802.11g or 802.11a/g. In addition, it is 802.11n-ready and features the Wi-Fi Catcher that scans for wireless hotspots and notifies when it detects one without requiring to boot up the system.

Some other features of Dell Latitude D420 notebook PC include three USB ports, an IEEE 1394 port, a Secure Digital (SD) card slot and impressive over seven hours of battery life supplied by the nine-cell extended life battery.
