Micron to Introduce 8-Megapixel Image Chip

Electronic circuits and Chip maker Micron Technology has indicated that it would soon unveil a thumbnail-sized digital sensor that enables pocket-sized cameras and cell phones to capture bursts of 10 high-quality photos in a single second or even high-definition video.

The company today unveiled a prototype of an 8-megapixel image sensor that packs a punch with incredible capture rates at full resolution and stunning high-definition (HD) video capture.

Siemens, the largest market shareholder in the cordless phone section, launches the H550 model of cordless phone in the Indian market.

The H550 model of cordless phone is boundled with a range of comprehensible features that include FSK & DTMF clip, type 2 call waiting, caller line identification, real time clock, time display in mode (handset), ISDN-PABX accompanied with traits like desktop charger, analog a/b, telescopic antenna (handset and base) with an outdoor range of: 200m and indoor range of 50m.

Nokia Unveils E50 - Targeted At Mass Market

Nokia has unveiled a new small mobile phone, the latest in its Nokia E series business range, the Nokia E50, targeted at a mass market of business users in what is seen as its attempt o grab a bigger share of that lucrative segment of the industry.nokia-e501.jpg

The new Nokia E50 mobile phone is aimed at both business and leisure use and it comes with pre-installed business applications, an MP3 player, and an optional 1.3 mega pixel camera. It supports corporate mobile e-mail solutions and GSM networks.

The E50, Nokia’s 18th new phone model this year, is expected to begin hitting the stores before the end of June, with volume sales starting in the third quarter, Nokia said.

Sony Ericsson W700 Walkman Mobile Phone

Sony Ericsson introduces W700 mobile phone in the series of Walkman phones.

The new W700 shares the same features as the W800i, with one exception of the new Titanium gold design sony-w700and the memory which has dropped from 512 MB to 256 MB, which can be further upgraded up to 2 GB through slot card.

AMD Unveils Energy Efficient CPU Chips

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has plans to unveil a range of energy-efficient desktop CPUs with models that the it says will run more than twice as efficient as some of its mainstream desktop parts.

amd-sempronWhile the current AMD desktop chips can consume a maximum 89 watts or more, the latest energy-efficient desktop chips will consume a maximum of only 35 to 65 watts, depending on the model.

Current range of AMD’s desktop CPUs consumes a maximum 51 - 110 watts or more. Whereas the energy-efficient desktop chips would consume a maximum 35 to 65 watts, making the new CPUs about twice as enery efficient as older versions.

Apple Unveils Intel Core Duo MacBook Notebook PC

Apple Computer has unveiled the successor to its highly popular iBook line of entry-level laptops newly renamed Apple MacBook. Intel Core Duo based MacBook is to replace iBook, the entry level of Apple notebook. Like Apple iPod, MacBook is available in two colors, white and black.

Windows Vista Beta 2 Will Be Available by May End

Microsoft had indicated that it plans to ship Windows Vista build 5381 as Beta 2, towards the end of May 2006. Microsoft expects to eventually deliver this version to millions of people.

Infosys plans to spend $100 millions on training

Infosys, India’s leading software exporter has announced that it plans to spend $100 million in year 2006 on in-house training in view of the acute technically skilled people shortage in outsourcing industry.

“The limiting factor to growth going forward will be the (lack of) availability of trained manpower, not infrastructure,” Dow Jones Newswires quoted T.V. Mohandas Pai, head of human resources at Infosys, as saying.

“There is war for talent,” Pai added.

He explained, India’s information technology sector will require at least 1 million professionally skilled software graduates over the next three years.

Company did not provide specifics on how the it would use the money for training.

Nokia launches new Internet tablet with Google Talk

Espoo, Finland-based Nokia, unveiled a new version of its Internet tablet gadget which runs Google Talk communication software for voice and text chat.

nokia770aThe deal between Nokia and Google offers consumers the ability to chat with other users of instant messaging software via the Nokia Wi-Fi device, which relies on short-range wireless networks.

The Nokia 770 Internet tablet, introduced last year, offers wireless access to digital music and video, as well as access to e-mail.

The new version of the Nokia’s Internet tablet also has a full-screen finger keyboard. Rather than using cell-phone networks, the 770 device relies on unregulated local wireless connections.

Palm unveiled the Treo 700p

Palm officially unveiled the forthcoming release of the Treo 700p on Monday, four months after the release of its first Windows smart phone. The new Treo 700p would offer broadband like speed on their laptop computers by using the new smartphone as a wireless modem via USB or Bluetooth wireless technology.

Hitachi Launches 160HB Travelstar 5K160 2.5-inch Mobile Hard Drives

Hitachi has announced a new mobile hard drives based on perpendicular recording technolog. Company has today announced its new 2.5″, 5400RPM Travelstar 5K160 series hard drives.

hitachi-5K160The drive uses perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) tech and is aimed at the notebook market, but it will be used in next generation 1.8-inch drives, ready in the second half of this year.

The new Travelstar drives will be available in capacities of 40GB, 60GB, 80GB, 120GB and 160GB. The drives feature a 11ms seek time, 8MB of cache and are available with either an IDE or SATA interface.

Japanese camera manufacturer, Ricoh has recently introduced its newest Caplio, the 500G wide digital camera. The rugged 8-megapixel device boasts of high resistance to water, dust and shock letting photographers focus on the scene without worrying about damage.

The “Wide” suffix to the camera’s title refers to its 28-85mm, 3x optical zoom lens that is relatively wide when compared with most compact models’ lenses. Its 28mm wide-angle zoom lens is said to capture larger areas than the 35mm lenses of conventional digital cameras. So when there is limited space to manoeuvre and you have a large area like some building to snap, this digital camera would come handy.
