Samsung India has launched their new ‘S’ Series of Point & Shoot digital camera, the Digimax S500, which is equipped with 3x optical zoom and a spacious 2.4 inch LCD monitor. Digimax S500 features a 5.3 Megapixel 1/2.5″ CCD, effective resolution 5.1 Megapixels and 5,8 – 17,4mm (equivalent with film 35 mm: 35 – 105mm) zoom lens.
Like their other recently lauhced digital cameras, the Samsung Digimax S500 features Auto Macro, to take close-up pictures automatically even if close-up mode is not set.
In addition it offers high-speed USB 2.0 transfer rate to computers and printers allowing upto 480 Mbps data transfer rates. Movie clips can be recorded at 30 frames per second and 640 X 480 VGA resolution with sound.
In Korea Samsung introduces their digital cameras under the name Kenox. In Europe or US we are familiar with the name Digimax.
The new Samsung Digimax S500 digital camera has 20-MB of internal storage capacity with a Secure Digital slot for external storage. For power the Digimax S500 uses 2x AA format alkaline or NiMH type of batteries. The Digimax S500 has compact dimensions of 96.8 x 61.8 x 26.4mm and weighs only 136 g. The S500 digital camera provides a macro mode (5cm) and focuses in normal mode from 80cm to infinity. The back of the camera features a 2.4 inch LCD monitor with a resolution of 112,00 pixels.

The Digimax S500 is designed for easy and quick operation, ergonomic design with camera grip. Large and Vivid TFT LCD (2.4 inch) Samsung S500 digital cameras, has announced the release of the point and shoot ‘S’ series.
Samsung ‘S’ Series of digital cameras allows customers choice from a variety of models: 5, 6, and 8 megapixels in Silver or Black shades. The ‘S’ series comes with an Effect Key allowing the user to adjust the colour of the photos being taken and also add various creative effects.
The S500 also has an easy mode dial that allows the user to move between portrait, night pictures, and movies, swiftly, depending on the situation. Samsung Digimax S500 has a larger LCD screen for clearer picture quality. Printing out pictures is easy via PictBridge which enables an image to be printed directly to a connected compatible printer – without a PC.
Samsung S500 features video capabilities (MPEG4, VGA, 30fps) which means it can even double as a camcorder to record small duration running videos. Advanced features allow “in camera” movie editing and a pause function during recording.
Samsung’s Digimax S500 digital cameras is available at Rs. 12,990 and easy EMI Rs. 722 per month across India.
