BenQ FP72V, a new 17-inch Stylish LCD Monitor

BenQ has launched a 17-inch FP72 V LCD monitor designed for the Indian home market. The new 17-inch LCD monitor is specifically designed for family use, which typically involves playing digital music, playing videos, e-learning, instant messaging and communicating with friends and relatives.

benq-lcdThe new 17-inch LCD offers several features that address the needs of the family at home environment, including automatic brightness adjustment, detachable web camera for flexible placement, flexible height settings, and wide viewing angles for sharing content.

According to company press release, the new FP72V offers a “family friendly” feature set that was designed with four concepts in mind: Comfort, Share, Hands-on Fun and Novelty.

There is also a durable built-in protective film that shields the LCD monitor screen from abrasion and scratches. The protective film also helps improve the image quality of the picture on the monitor.

Ish Bawa, marcom head, BenQ, said, “We plan to market the FP72 V LCD monitor through the BenQ IT Zones and the 40-odd BenQ IT Spots. We are also enlisting our channel partners who have a retail setup. This would enable the customers to have demos and touch-feel experience.”

Commenting on the increasing popularity of PC convergence, Bawa said, “With more and more people opting for 17-inch LCD monitors for watching movies and for gaming, the monitor sale has certainly improved. Today the 17-inch is what most of the people ask for, and we can expect the 19-inch moving into this space very soon.”

The FP72 V specifications:

  • Flat-panel display/TFT (thin film transistor) active matrix that ensures a wide viewing angle (178 degrees)
  • High resolution (1280 x 1024 SXGA), high contrast ratio (1000:1)
  • Response time of 25 milliseconds and can display up to 16.7 million colors.
  • Includes D-Sub, digital DVI-D ports and three USB 2.0 connectors

Interestingly, the FP72V has already received the 2005 IF Design China Award and 2005 CES Innovations Design and Engineering Award for outstanding industrial design, that it is not only kind to the eyes, but also good to look at.

The FP72 V LCD monitor is already available across India at a price of Rs 21,000.
