Microsoft had indicated that it plans to ship Windows Vista build 5381 as Beta 2, towards the end of May 2006. Microsoft expects to eventually deliver this version to millions of people.

Microsoft will be releasing a DVD of Vista Beta 2 and Office 2007 Beta 2 to attendees of the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC) on May 23 2006. All users who wish to obtain a DVD version of Vista Beta 2 as download will also have to wait till May 27 2006.

Earlier, Microsoft provided Vista Beta build 5382 internally and it expects to deliver Vista Beta build 5383 by next week to all the users. This Vista Beta build 5383 variant will perhaps be labeled as as Vista Beta 2.
